[German] Tips zur 7. Mission Egypter Original Kampagne

Hallo,

stand 10.09.18 wurde diese Mission von drei Runnern angegangen.
Der erste Run stammt von tasdasd, der die Mission in 39:35 Minuten abschloss:

Grund dafür ist, dass ich rausfinden konnte, wie Siedler3 die Siegbedingung des "kompletten Besiedelns der Inseln A, B und C" im Spiel prüft.
Das Spiel überprüft nicht, ob man die Inseln insgesamt ganz eingenommen hat, sondern lediglich, ob ausgewählte Pixel auf der Karte vom Spieler eingenommen wurden. Ich konnte alle diese Pixel identifizieren, so dass man nun die Möglichkeit hat, die Mission mit minimalem Pioniereinsatz schnell zu gewinnen.

P.S.: in tasdasd's Video ist bei MInute 40 schön zu sehen, dass er das Spiel gewinnt, sobald er den Schnee eingenommen hat. Dort war für ihn der letzte Trigger-Punkt bzw. Pixel, den er zum Sieg noch brauchte.

General Gameplay Mechanics

This guide is still work in progress, but I thought I might as well show the information I have gathered so far.

### UNIT CONTROL ###

Most controlable units have a "standard" move order given by right clicks and a secondary move order giving by holding [Alt] while right clicking. Following list shows what orders a unit may receive from the player. There are also handy ways to select units. If you try to select different unit types only one type is selected. The priority is allways: soldiers > priests > pioneers > geolegists > thiefs.

[Alt] + [Left Click] = Select all units of a soldier type (swords, bows or lances) on screen
[Ctrl] + [Left Click] = Select all soldiers on screen
[Right Click] = Attack order to target location (they will stop for any enemy on the way and attack them)
[Ctrl] + [Right Click] = Move order to target location (they will NOT stop for anything)
[Alt] + [Right Click] = Patrol order between target location and current location
[Left Click] on "Hold Position" = They hold the position ... surprise 

¤ priests ¤
[Alt] + [Left Click] / [Right Click] = Select all priests on screen
[Right Click] = Move order to target location

¤ pioneers ¤
[Alt] + [Left Click] / [Right Click] = Select all pioneers on screen
[Right Click] = Move order to target location
[Alt] + [Right Click] = Work order to target location (they will move to the location and start pioneering immediately afterwards)
[Left Click] on "Pioneer" = They start pioneering at the current location
Tipp: Turning pioneers back to carriers only works when they are standing still or have the [Alt] + [Right Click] order.

[Alt] + [Left Click] / [Right Click] = Select all geologists on screen
[Right Click] = Move order to target location
[Alt] + [Right Click] = Work order to target location (they will move to the location and start looking for minerals immediately afterwards)
[Left Click] on "Find Resources" = They start looking for minerals at the current location

¤ thieves ¤
[Alt] + [Left Click] / [Right Click] = Select all thieves on screen
[Right Click] = Move order to target location
[Alt] + [Right Click] = Work order to target location (they will move to the location, steal goods and walk bach to the current location)
[Left Click] on "Steal Goods" = They steal goods at the current location
Tipp: Stealing also works on neutral areas.


### AI-MANIPULATION ###

It is possible to manipulate the AI in some ways. I try to explain some things I have encountered.

¤ tower defense¤
When a tower of the AI is attacked all soldiers in the area (maybe even all soldiers the AI has) are send to the tower. The nice thing about this is, that they are send with [Ctrl] + [Right Click]. Therefore they are not attacking until they have reached the tower. This is exploited in many missions by blocking their path with soldiers and killing a lot of enemy soldiers without taking to much losses. You can see this trick best in the speedrun of Roman IV of the 1st Roman Campaign (the fight against the egyptian enemy).

¤ tower attack ¤
The AI allways knows how many troops are near your towers and will attack them when it thinks it has the soldiers to take the fight. You can exploit that by having one undefended tower far back in you base and catch the enemy soldiers walking by. As far as I know they are moving with a normal attack order. So you may need to be careful when attacking them. Another way you can use this is by again having a undefended tower far back in your base with soldiers somewhat close (but not right next to the tower). You then wait for the AI-soldiers to come very far to the tower and then send reinforcements. If the reinforcements are enough the AI will turn back (with a [Ctrl] + [Right Click] order this time) and you can intercept them with a secondary force. All these things aren't very reliable but can be great ways to weaken up the enemy before attacking yourself.

¤ thief bait ¤
The AI will allways know about your thieves but will respond with a delay. One way to exploit this is to have a thief stand right on the edge of the border (within enemy territory) and have a few soldiers right outside of the enemy territory. The AI will send singular soldiers which you can then pick off. This works best with bowmen or any soldiers and a helaers quarter nearby. That way you will not lose any soldiers in the process. I plan to use this exploit in one of the amazon missions (Mission 9). (DO MULTIPLE THIEFS ATTRACT MULTIPLE SOLDIERS???)


### COMBAT ###

There are 3 soldier types: Swordsmen, Bowmen and Speermen. All having their pros and cons. Swordmen are fast and deal a lot of damage, but are rather frail. Bowmen can hit from a distance but are slow and frail. Speermen have mediocre speed and damage but are the unit most resistant to damage (by far). To underline these statements there are some statistics below (they are all done by personal testing and therefore may not be 100% accurate but will give a good idea on what the real values may look like).

Pioneers, geologists and theifs all have a ratio of 0.25 compaired to lvl 1 swordsmen.
Preists have a ratio of 0.80 campaired to lvl 1 swordsmen.

¤ speed ratios ¤

All non controllable settlers, pioneers, geologists and thiefs have the same speed and are therefore the basis of 1.00 speed.
The speed ratio of the soldiers is: Swordsmen = 1.33, Bowmen = 1.00, Speermen = 1.11.
The speed ratio of priests is 0.80.

¤ Combat Strength ¤

Combat strength (CS) is the value that indicates how good your army will do in enemy (and neutral?) terretory. It does NOT effect the health or speed of your soldiers but their damage. It is generally increased by storing gold bars in your land. As a special trait of the egyptians CS is also increased by storing gems (whats with amazons??). To compensate that storing gold has only half the effect for them compaired to the other nations. Interesting fact: gold bars or gems carried arround by your settlers will NOT count for your CS. They must lie on the ground.

¤ promotion ¤

Soldiers can be promoted by generating mana (see "Spells" section). Every soldier type can be promoted twice but to get the second promotion all soldier types must be promoted once. The mana needed for every promotion ist listed below:

Promoted soldiers have incresed health and damage compaired to their unpromoted counterparts. 



### SPELLS ###

Mana is created by sacrificing alcoholic drinks to the gods via small temples (1 mana for every drink) or by building large temples (8 mana for every temple). To get mana from large temples you must increase the total amount of temples you have. Therefore raising and rebuilding a temple does not give any mana.
