Updated Historic Missions (PSP Exclusive) Speedrun Guide (UNDER CONSTRUCTION)
Updated 1 month ago by StarFalco64

This is a guide for the Historic Missions category of Star Wars: The Force Unleashed (Sixth Generation Platforms). The Historic Missions are bonus missions exclusive to the PSP version of the game in which you play as characters from the Star Wars saga and play through five different scenes from the Star Wars films in Force Unleashed playstyle. This guide will be updated as new strats are found.

The missions are (player character first):

Mustafar Mining Complex (Obi-Wan Kenobi vs. Anakin Skywalker)

Dooku's Quarters (Anakin Skywalker vs. Count Dooku, Episode III fight)

The Dune Sea (Luke Skywalker vs. Boba Fett)

The Geonosis Colosseum (Mace Windu vs. Jango Fett)

Carbonite Chamber (Darth Vader vs. Luke Skywalker, Episode V fight)

General Notes:

  • You will usually have to finish each phase of each boss with a QTE event, much like the story modes QTE finishers. However, unlike the story mode, the Historic Missions have the unique feature of usually triggering this QTE by standing in a particular spot when the boss is ready and pressing either L or R.
  • Every Historic Mission will end with an IGT time which you must press X to exit through. Currently the leaderboard allows you to include the cumulative times of your run as a total IGT. The IGT counter seems consistent, but why the numbers are so high is beyond us; they always display as longer than your RTA. You can submit this IGT total but RTA is the preferred timing method.

Mission Order and Menuing Information

You can play the Historic Missions in any order, but you will have to take some things into account in order to play the missions in an ideal order. Since RTA is the primary timing method you will have to do some fast menuing between missions. You also have to take in to account that the Historic Missions all end with unskippable cutscenes, and some of these cutscenes are longer than others; since the timer ends when you place the final input, you want to end the run with the mission with the longest ending cutscene so that it is not included in the final time. You must also consider the difficulty of the Historic Missions and which ones are better to get out of the way early to avoid resets later in the run. This guide is organized in the order that I find the most beneficial for speed.

Menuing

The Mission Select always defaults back to Force Duel, so you first have to highlight that and change it to Historic Missions everytime, which is one input to the left. Then you select the Historic Mission you are going to do next, the default position in the menu will always be Dooku's Quarters. After selecting which Historic Mission you are going to play, you need to hover over Start, and press X. It is fastest to go up two inputs from the mission select to get to Start.

Think of the Historic Missions menu like this, bearing in mind that everytime you highlight the Historic Missions Dooku's Quarters will be the starting position:

Mustafar Complex - Carbonite Chamber - Dooku's Quarters - Dune Sea - Geonosis Colosseum

So for example to get to Carbonite Chamber you would first highlight Historic Missions, and then go left once from Dooku's Quarters. To get to Geonosis Colosseum you would first highlight Historic Missions, and then go right twice. The guides of each individual level will start with the exact menuing inputs to quickly select that mission.

Mission Order

The mission order that I recommend is starting with Mustafar Mining Complex, then Dooku's Quarters, then The Dune Sea, then The Geonosis Colosseum, and ending with Carbonite Chamber.

Mustafar Mining Complex is first because I consider it to be the hardest and most difficult of all the Historic Missions, it is also two level-select spaces away from the default menu position, meaning longer menuing inputs are not included in the time. The cutscene at the end of Mustafar is very short, it is not worth doing last.

Dooku's Quarters is second because I find it to be the next most inconsistent, and it has the second-longest ending cutscene; however, since we can only choose one ending cutscene to cut out from the run, it is still not worth doing last. This level is mostly inconsistent due to the cutscene between the Battle Droids mob and the Count Dooku fight sometimes randomly taking a very long time to trigger after defeating the Battle Droids. Dooku's Quarters is also not really worth doing first because it has the smallest amount of required inputs to select this mission.

The Dune Sea is third because if the strats are performed correctly its actually quite consistent, but the Boba Fett Quick Kill is still fairly difficult, so it may fail. The ending cutscene of this mission is very short, it is not worth doing last. It is only one menu-input away from Dooku's Quarters in the mission select.

The Geonosis Colosseum is fourth because there are not really any notable features to this level other than performing it fast, which is not exactly easy but it's not typically a run-killer for me personally. The ending cutscene of this mission is very short, it is not worth doing last. It is two menu-inputs away from Dooku's Quarters in the mission select.

Carbonite Chamber is last for several reasons. For starters, Carbonite Chamber has the longest ending-cutscene, so this is the one you want to cut out of the final time. It is also the easiest mission of the bunch, Luke Skywalker is the weakest opponent and you greatly outclass him. It is also only one menu-input to the left from Dooku's Quarters in the mission select, putting it on the shorter end. Even if you change up the order of the missions when you do them, I strongly recommend doing Carbonite Chamber last.
