Here's a video explaining the warp pad glitch that can be used to skip any level: Note that I'm now not so sure that you have to wait at all after pausing to get the glitch to activate correctly. Instead I think it's all just about the frame you pause on. In my TAS testing, I noticed that if the pause menu came up on the frame after the warp pad turns green, this seemed to be 100% consistent; however, this doesn't change the way that I go for the glitch. I still try to pause so that I hear the level-end sound but don't see any green.
