Hello! I would like to create a category for timed runs of master operations (8 man and 16 man, so it's 2 distinct categories) without Nightmare Fury Crystal, is it possible? Because some timed runs are good challenges and I would start focusing on it more seriously than before.
For the rules, I was thinking about like: -when video starts, show that nobody uses the Nightmare Fury Crystal (it's a buff, or we can just see it by the hp increasing) -show the dps/healing parses (so starparse required too, and everyone has to be on it) to prove no one is hiding he's using a crystal after the raid starting.
would the buff appear in the UI (like where the class buffs + stims also appear) or is it something that literally is hidden?
it appears near the class buffs, but we can't see if other people use it after a battle starts, so people can hide it by using it during a battle.
In fact, this crystal increases every stats by 20% (it's to help people to kill the bosses and gear up faster, but some people use it when they're 100% Best-in-slot geared, so it's sounds like cheat)
Really, there isn't a UI icon that appears from receiving the buff from someone else!! That's insane! Yeah that sounds like a good idea for verification then.
I'm really busy these next few days but I can probably set something up by the end of the week. I'll probably take the rest of the rules from flashpoint leaderboards (as well as modify them for group play etc.). Does that sound reasonable? Also, modify the stim/adrenal rule to include this other icon and then put another line for verifying that the user didn't cheat (just like in legacyless 1-10)
Super excited for you to get a group together to do this run!! Look forward to watching it!
That would be the only one problem, I haven't a group yet, soon but not yet ^^ And for the stim/adrenals, it's needed to use them in NiM ops (for burn phases), so I don't think a rule about it is important.
hmmmm are the adrenals/stims acquireable without millions of credits or any number of cartel coins? The point is to make it reproduceable without extreme cost, so you wouldn't be punished for resetting.
In fact, when a boss dies (there is around 5 bosses per raid), you're locked until the next week, so to "reset", you have to wait an entire week, I know it's long to train; and atm the stims/adrenals are extremely cheap on the gtn, or you can even craft them ^^ here is an example of a NiM Dread Palace Timed run (I know many things have been released since this run, but the ops are scaled at every extensions so there is still some difficulty): The training may be long (and it is), but if the group is good it's possible to do really good times
and yeah I guess craftables should be allowed for runs, so whatever I suppose we should make them legal for flashpoints as well
Yeah, the only item which should just be removed from the game (because it exists only since 4.0 to help, but it's not needed) is the Nightmare Fury Crystal, too many people use it to make timed runs easier.
@Overthousand @CovertMuffin where do i get the schematics for the fury crystal actually from
Every operation would be great and a command boost would work since you can't use more than one command boost. As long as the information is recorded it can be verified.
I have discussed this further with xoza, looking forward to potential submissions towards future categories, please make sure to follow the general ruleset for reproducibility of attempts with new categories as follows:
- No purchasing of legacy upgrades/buffs during the run.
- No use of server-wide event benefits or stims/adrenals are permitted (exp buffs are exception).
- Timing starts on first input after entering flashpoint/operation. Timing ends on final dialogue/action to exit flashpoint.
If you have not checked the resource section, the best place to reach and discuss SWTOR speedrunning is in the star wars general speedrunning discord in the #swtor channel. Invite link is in resources and posted here: https://discord.gg/yn5DsaR
EDIT_ Elaborating the above statement; the idea of speedrunning is you want to have the least mining of resources to be able to have reporducible runs; as such those who want to grind a max level charecter should not be expected to dump tons of resources each attempt in order to allow for as much reset potential to inspire optimization of performance. Resource and even monetary advantages are silly to consider in the same regard as a skill of a player
