All Unlockables (Japanese Version)

**What Is The Focus of This Guide?**
I will first and foremost talk about how to unlock everything, then I will follow it up with an section talking shortly about what each unlocks does and can be used for.

**[big][section=How To Unlock Everything][/big]***This section will cover how to unlock everything as well as tips to fasten the process.*

**Trick For Easy and Fast Unlocks**
Normally you would just playthrough the game on desired difficulty depending on what unlocks you want and then complete the game. However you can make the process much faster and smoother. Simply play on Very Easy and make your way through to the final boss, then quit and save and change the difficulty to desired. This will make it so you will only need to kill the final boss on the harder difficulties and thus fasten the process of unlocks.

**__[big]Unlocks For Each Difficulty Clear[/big]__**
**Completing Very Easy**
• Unlocks “Mini Game” or also known as “Puck’s Mini Game”.

**Completing Easy**
• Unlocks “Battle Arena”.

**Completing Normal**
• Unlocks “Stage Select”.

**Completing Hard**
• Unlocks “Very Hard” difficulty.
• Unlocks “Stage Select”.
• Unlocks “No Limit Mode”

**__[big]Gallery Unlocks[/big]__**
**No Need To Clear Stage**
For all pictures, with the exception of 1 and 11, you don’t have to complete the stage or fight. You can either simply let the enemies kill you, let the time run out or actually complete and clear the stage. Regardless you will get the picture corresponding for the fight. Keep in mind that you cannot just quit out and expect to receive the reward, it won’t work.

**1. Guts** - Complete the game on any difficulty.
**2. Casca** - Play against "Great Tree-Casca" in the Battle Arena.
**3. Puck**  - Play "Puck's Mini Game" in the Prize Box.
**4. Skull Knight** - Play "Time Attack A" in the Battle Arena.
**5. Rita**  - Play "Time Attack B" in the Battle Arena.
**6. Eriza** - Play against "Great Tree-Niko" in the Battle Arena.
**7. Balzac** - Play against "Disciple Balzac" in the Battle Arena.
**8. Annette** - Play against "Baron Balzac" in the Battle Arena.
**9. Job** - Play against "Job" in the Battle Arena.
**10. Zodd** - Play against "Zodd the Immortal" in the Battle Arena.
**11. Dunteth** - Complete the "Forest" (Stage 6) and start "Mandrake Town" (Stage 7) on any difficulty.
**12. Behelit** - Play "Time Attack C" in the Battle Arena.

**[big][section=Unlockables Information][/big]***Here I will go through in more detail about what the unlocks actually is and what you can do with each of them.*

**__[big]World[/big]__**
**How To Unlock**
When you boot up the game for the first time you will always have the "World" tab unlocked.

**What's the Use?**
Here you can explore the world of Berserk and read about whatever you please. You’ll find different topics, characters and whatnot to read about. These will feature short summaries about each topic to help you get a better understanding about the Berserk universe as a whole.

**__[big]Gallery & Pictures[/big]__**
**How To Unlock**
You will first unlock the “Gallery” tab after getting the 11th picture (Dunteth), which is gotten for completing "Forest" (Stage 6) which is right before "Mandrake Town" (Stage 7). From there on out you can get additional pictures from completing the game as well as playing in the various fights in the “Battle Arena”.

**What's the Use?**
Here you will have your collection of unlocked pictures you get by playing the game and it's different unlockables modes. You can then view your pictures and if you press on one you will view it in a much larger format. Not only can you enjoy the gorgeous pictures but you can also click again to read a short little flavor text about each picture.

**__[big]Movies & Cutscenes[/big]__**
**How To Unlock**
After starting the first stage and quitting out after the cutscene you will have access to the “Movie” tab. You will at this point only have unlocked 1/30 movies. As you progress through the game and see more and more cutscenes the movies will unlock accordingly. At the end of the game upon completion, you will have all movies for a total of 30/30.

**What's the Use?**
This is a collection of all cutscenes that's scattered throughout the the game. Here you can rewatch them at your own leisure if you so wish.

**__[big]Puck’s Mini Game[/big]__**
**How To Unlock**
After completing the game on “Very Easy” you will unlock this mini game.

**What's the Use?**
A little mini game to waste your time with. Your goal is to help Puck defend his bag of goodies. Mandragora saplings will constantly fall down and your goal is to snap them with your mighty dandelions. Your goal is to simply destroy the saplings as they land and try to not let the meter get full, then it’s game over. 

You will also get the 3rd picture of Puck for playing this mini game.

**__[big]Battle Arena[/big]__**
**How To Unlock**
After completing the game on “Easy” you will unlock this feature.

**What's the Use?**
You can fight all of the bosses in timed fashion while also going for high scores. There are also three different Time Attacks (A/B/C) which features a free-for-all with a timer where your goal is to accumulate as much score as possible within the time limit. This might also be useful to try new strategies against bosses if one so wish.

You will also unlock all pictures, except 1st, 3rd and the 11th pictures by playing through all of the different fights.

**__[big]Stage Select[/big]__**
**How To Unlock**
After completing the game on either “Normal” or “Hard” you will unlock this feature.

**What's the Use?**
You no longer need to play through the whole game just to get to a specific stage and check something out. You can now simply pick any stage you want and play it. This is very useful when you just want to check something out, try and find new strategies and whatnot.

**__[big]No Limit Mode[/big]__**
**How To Unlock**
After completing the game on “Hard” you will unlock this mode.

**What's the Use?**
If this mode is turned on you will have access to unlimited amounts of equipments. You can basically never die and you will be able to destroy anything with little to no effort at all. This is the fastest way to speedrun this game, although fun it does remove a huge amount of skill and effort.

Difficulty Differences (Japanese Version)

This guide will help you differentiates the difficulties in this game, not only in terms of damage but some other stuff as well.

**[big][section=Damage Differences][/big]***In this section I will test and find out how damage dealt can fluctuate depending on the version of the game.*

**__[big]Arm Cannon Damage Test[/big]__**
I will use Arm Cannon as my form of testing. This is because it will always deal a consistent amount of damage which makes it easy to see the difference between difficulties. I will also test it on the first boss "Job" because of his easy access. Below you see the differences in damage dealt throughout the higher difficulties.

**__[big]Results[/big]__**
*When I write "decrease" I refer to the decreased damage dealt and increased is obviously the opposite.*

•** Very Easy to Easy - Small Decrease**
It's a fairly small difference, although it makes somewhat big of a deal. The difference from a one-shot and an almost one-shot can be the differences of seconds. This is because you are forced to finish of the boss with other tools and that will lose time. Both are still very strong but even a tiny bit can make a huge difference.

•** Easy to Normal - Big Decrease**
This is the biggest difference and will we vastly tougher difficulty due to the massive change in damage dealt. This is from where the harder difficulties comes in play.

•** Normal To Hard - Decent Decrease**
It's not quite as big of a difference as the previous one were. It is still a fairly decent gap between the two but obviously still a big difference.

•** Hard to Very Hard - Small Increase**
This might be a bit of surprise to many. You will actually deal more damage on Very Hard compared to Hard. I assume this is the developers way of balancing the game, although for what specific reason I don't know.

**All Attacks Are Affected**
Everything seems to be affected, not only attacks but equipments as well. However I will only used Arm Cannon to keep the testing simple and understandable.

**[big][section=Additional Differences][/big]***Here I will talk about changes other than related to damage.*

**__[big]Escape Sequence Is “Faster”[/big]__**
I don't exactly mean that the sequence is faster per-se, I am actually referring to the "Tentacle" being faster in terms of catching up to you. Therefore as the difficulties progress higher and higher, you will also have less room for mistakes. On Very Hard it’s almost guaranteed that one slip-up is a certain death.

Regional Differences (JPN/USA/EUR)

**What Is The Focus of This Guide?**
The goal with this guide is to help you understand and see how the Japanese version differs so much from the USA and European versions.

**[big][section=Damage Differences][/big]***In this section I will test and find out how damage dealt can fluctuate depending on the version of the game.*

I will use Arm Cannon as my form of testing. This is because it will always deal a consistent amount of damage which makes it easy to see the difference between difficulties. I have also included Very Easy and Very Hard difficulties from the Japanese version for more comparisons even if there is no such difficulties on the other versions.

•** Easy - Huge Decrease**
It's a massive difference between the version as seen on this one. It's quite easy to tell why it's much better to speedrun on the Japanese version.

•** Normal - Decent Decrease**
Once again a decrease, although not quite as massive as the previous one. Also the EUR versions seems to have a small increase over the USA version.

•** Hard - Small Increase**
This might be unexpected to some, there is actually an increase in damage on the USA version. Furthermore the EUR version has an additional decrease in damage which is a bit worse that all other versions. Still not a huge deal but it might make a difference.

**__[big]Conclusion[/big]__**
There is a incredible inconsistency issue with all three versions in terms of damage dealt. There are major differences and no difficulty is like the others. Keep in mind the damage can vary slightly.

**__USA = Europe = Japanese__**
•** Easy = Easy = Normal**
•** Normal = Hard ≈ Hard**
•** Hard = Normal = Very Hard**

**All Attacks Are Affected**

**__[big]Berserk Gain[/big]__**
*The below test is done on Easy for all versions. Keep in mind it might not be a consistent test as different attacks might do different berserk gain and it can vary from try to try. This is just a overview in general how versions affect it.*

**__Results__**
It's quite easy to tell the difference between the versions in terms of Berserk Gain. It seems that on the Japanese version you gain much more Berserk Meter easily than the USA/EUR version. What the exact cause for this I don't know. It may depend if you get hit in succession or different attacks do different amounts of gain. What I do know is you usually won't get up to full meter without dying before on the USA/EUR version. I think perhaps certain attacks deals more damage and less Berserk gain that other attacks but it's clear the different from Japanese version at least.

•** Japanese**: Full Berserk with around 20-30% Health left.
•** USA**: Died even before reaching full Berserk.
•** Europe**: Died even before reaching full Berserk.

**__[big]Continues[/big]__**
A major difference is being that the USA/EUR version features a “Credit” system upon dying. This means you have a limited amounts of retries upon dying. The amount of continues depends on the difficulties. However after using a continue your equipment is reseted to the maximum capacity.

The Japanese version has no “Credit” whatsoever, infinite retries for everyone. Although you will not get full capacity of equipments and only start with 1/1/3.

**__Easy/Normal/Hard__**
•** Japanese**: Infinite
•** USA/Europe**: 7/10/13

**__[big]Item capacity[/big]__**
*I will refer to equipments in the form of Fairy Dust/Arm Cannon/Bombs (X/Y/Z).*

Another big difference is that in the USA/EUR version you have less max capacity of your equipments. In the USA/EUR version your maxes are depending on what difficulty, more max the higher difficulty. The huge difference is that in the USA/EUR version you will always spawn with full capacity of equipments as opposed to Japanese version where you will start with 1/1/3.

**__Fairy Dust/Arm Cannon/Bombs__**
•** Japanese**: 5/2/9 (All Difficulties)
•** USA/Europe**: 2/1/3 (Easy), 2/2/5 (Normal), 3/3/7 (Hard)

**__[big]Quit & Save[/big]__**
In the Japanese version you can practically quit and save pretty much anywhere on any stage and almost always start where you left. This seems not to be the case of the USA/EUR version where you will usually have to redo many stages to get back where you initially left off. This means the USA/EUR version has very few "checkpoints" throughout the game, this can pose a problem if you play the harder difficulties and happen to die which will kill your run.
