[GAME MECHANICS] - Elevators in Labyrinth

Does anyone know how the number of elevators the player must go through in Labyrinth is determined? I have not counted, but I feel as though sometimes it takes much longer to get through this portion of the game than other times. Is it RNG dependent? Does the game keep track of how many times you perform a certain action then base the number of elevators on that tally? Any information of any kind on the Elevators is greatly appreciated.

It's not random, it has a consistent pattern:

The most used route is RRLRLRR (R = right & L = left), although there is also BRRLRLB which is slightly faster but a little harder to understand. Check out any of the top runs to see their route through the maze.

Absolutely wild. Thank you.

You can find some info about game mechanics in the guide, including stuff about the elevators, although that guide hasn't been updated in ages.

For instance, here are the shortest paths to the exit: https://i.imgur.com/B4NMbO8.png

The real question is, which arrow on the floor do you have to find first for the longest "intended" path?
