Any time I do a "new run" all I do is restart.bat (reboot story mode) before starting a new run. Am i supposed to start from SCRATCH?

Once you complete the game, you are able to choose levels to play. Restarting the game through restart.bat in the options does not lock any of the levels.

Playing through with a new file, you don't have access to the levels selection screen, as seen here at the beginning of the game, before kickstart.

And here, after you exit to menu from subway. This is after waiting for the download, however the levels menu isn't there before that anyway.

This glitch is only usable once you have completed the game. This means either a New Game + category needs creating for this and similar glitches in future, or we as a community allow it for Any%.

So.. It's allowed to exit a level, such as tiralley, after it's completed and then loading up serv through level select to skip the password entry screen? If so, then I would like to suggest splitting the categories into Any% and Story Mode, the latter in which you are not allowed to use level select to skip intermission stuff. Something along those lines, at least.

Can someone tell me about how much time it saves over the course of a whole run, roughly? It seems like it'd only be a minute-ish of timesave, and if that's the case, then it might not be worth creating an NG+ category.

I might do it anyway, though. Just need some input.

EDIT: just re-read these posts. It seems that because you can do it either way, we should probably have two categories. Adding an NG+ section.

@Soulcloset It seems to save about 10 - 20 seconds on top of the current skip. My menuing isn't 100% perfect so it could be less than that. Also gonna reword the rules for this skip in Any% and NG+ to make it a bit clearer, feel free to change them if you feel the wording is weird.

EDIT: If any more skips or glitches are found using the levels menu, then it can be amended to state that you cannot use the levels menu for any% and you can for ng+

Is the disparity great enough to warrant an entire new category, or might it be more prudent to have NG+ as a variable for Any%?

Just seen and verified your run Ellieceraptor. It definitely seems that the timesave you get is only useful during a highly optimised run (sub-20 worthy) that needs those few seconds shaved off. I think it's best that it is included in Any%, rather than as a separate category.

Additionally, the NewGame+ run isn't too different from Any% unless more glitches are found that require a completed save file. At the moment there's no point having it be a separate run.

That's my opinion anyway, I don't know what other's think about it.

I agree. You might as well make it a variable for Any%, like NG+ or Level select. Also, that was literally my first and only run, so I missed several of the NG+ skips towards the end, though they were all minor ones. XD

It's now a Yes or No subcategory of Any%, have to clarify it though. Please resubmit your run ^-^

I don't mean to be a jerk for repeating the same thing, but it still makes more sense to me to just have it as a variable for Any%, similar to how Dishonored has a Yes or No for whether you use the Voidwalker's Arsenal pack or not. If you're happy with using subcategories, then that's perfectly fine and I won't argue further. <3

Subcategories actually are just variables on the backend, so when you submit it's a Yes or No kinda deal. I think it's a bit cleaner to have two leaderboards, but with the option hidden away from the top-level menu. This is a really quick process to change, though, so if nobody ever actually does any NG+ runs (like with All Secrets), then I'll make it a variable or misc. category.

Not sure if relevant, but I'm going to attempt VR Speed runs since the touch was released. If you juggle a weapon and grab it just as you move to the next stage you keep the weapon, many of the stages have you weaponless staring down a firing squad waiting to disarm them.

@GravelordDorito the VR game is different enough that it's going to get its own page once a run exists. I'm going to make a thread about that right now, to clear things up. Thank you for your efforts, though =)
