Sound stuff

Ok so this game has some events happening after certain sounds are done playing. This can be (ab)used to save time by not having an audio output configured on your pc (disable audio device or don't plugin headphones). Unfortunately this means that you don't have any sound at all which is a bit sad.

So to use this timesave but still have audio i think it's fair that you are allowed to delete audio files from the pak*.pk3 archives. There are scripts that can automate this process: https://github.com/kugelrund/stvoyef_sound_removal

But you can also do this manually with any program that can handle .zip files, as .pk3 files are just that. Sounds you should delete for saving time are mostly files in "sound/voice", although you can probably keep the folders "sound/voice/*/misc" if you want, those sounds usually don't affect time. Additionally, some elevator sounds like "sound/movers" and "sound/movers/plats" can make using them a bit faster. You can also take a look at some of the "sounds_to_remove.txt" lists in https://github.com/kugelrund/stvoyef_sound_removal/releases .

This tutorial was made for Jedi Outcast, but Elite Force has basically the exact same strafing, so this guide should be helpful. Just ignore the parts about force jumping and jump cancels.
