50 Mines Vanilla/Glitchless Guide + Quick Video Guide (1.5 version is best)
Updated 2 years ago by Chikorita

Quick video -

In-depth video (long) -

UPDATES AT THE END - PLEASE READ Starting screen -Names don't matter (obviously no "codes" that would apply to glitch categories) -Character doesn't matter -Location set to the Forest Farm (less stuff in your path + sometimes can find food) -Make sure to have the "skip cutscene" checked before starting

Day 1-4 sleep as fast as possible. Hold the "D" key and press "Y" key on the yes/no sleep choice (faster than using your mouse to select "yes" for sleeping)

Day 5 - move the TV down next to the bed and check your luck. If it's lucky you go to the mines (north path, left of the house) and pick up any food on your path (you can check the bus stop for food as well before going the path north of the farm). Reset if you have less than 2 leek's worth of energy (1 leek + 2 horseradish and below is risky).

IMPORTANT - make sure to zoom out your game so you can see more of your map at any given time (under the setting tab when you load into the game world). I do this in the house after getting a lucky day on tv, before leaving the house.

If you had bad luck, sleep again and check Saturday. If bad luck again, reset. (food spawns reset on Sunday's + you lose 8 seconds each extra sleep and tv check cycle).

FIRST TIME IN MINES

GOALS -reach floor 15, 20, or 25 the first day -reach level 1 mining skill the first day -don't use all your food (preferably)

MINING EXP - If you don't reach level 1, likely best to reset (40-49 can be horrible with no cherry bombs) -you need 100 exp before you faint in the mines. Below are exp values. copper node - 5 exp copper/coal drop from rock break - 5 exp double hit rock - 3 exp (4 if coal)

HINT 100 exp / 5 exp per drop/ore break = 20 drops needed. COUNTING TO 20 IS EASIER!!! (also, I round the double hit rocks to 0.5 - easier to count than 3/5)

You can choose when you pick up a lot of this exp. Generally, I break about 12-16 copper nodes my first day and get another 5 drops from normal rocks. You can choose how risky you want to play.

WHEN TO FAINT DAY 5

-This is dependent on your energy, food, and mining experience. -Do not faint if you haven't hit 100 exp for mining. -Only faint on 15, 20, or 25 if you can help it. -Ration your food so you can faint faster on one of those floors. -When you reach one of these floors with enough exp, swing your ax or pickax to lower your energy so you can pass out

AFTER DAY 5

Check TV for luck. If it's a lucky day you'll finish the mines. If unlucky, sleep until it's a lucky day.
(remember - 8 seconds lost for each extra sleep + tv check)

Craft and use your cherry bombs on 40-49 where there are large clusters of rocks (best use of cherry bombs this day) Split when you enter Floor 50.

IMPORTANT NOTES

-killing an enemy has a 15% chance of dropping a ladder -killing all the enemies on a normal floor increasing ladder chance from a rock by ~4% (sometimes better to kill enemies first for these two reasons) -rock crabs can drop cherry bombs (40% chance) -duggies (found in dirt/sand) have a low chance of cherry bombs -early cherry bombs on the first day can help you get mining exp (I use them for clusters of 4 or more copper ore spawned together)

-FLOOR 30-39 ARE DARK FLOORS!!!!! pick up a torch (or glow ring if you're lucky) to swap to when not mining to give extra vision. If you have good eyesight (and monitor) you can occasionally see brown pixels of the ladder (RISKY!!!!!) -ALSO-every time you break a rock on these floors, press the Right Mouse Button! Make this a habit so that you can click on ladders faster (and so you don't miss one in the dark)

-checking crates/boxes are your choice. sometimes contain food, items, copper, coal, and a weapon (you can lose time)

-MAKE SURE TO PICK UP COAL ON AT LEAST ONE OF THE 4 FLOORS THAT CONTAIN A MINECART!!!!!!!!!!!!!! -you will hate yourself if you have tons of copper late in the run with no coal to craft bombs.

-ladders sometime spawn naturally. sometimes it's better to check for a natural spawn FIRST, or break a few rocks while checking the map for a "free" ladder.

GLITCHLESS - REMEMBER TO USE ANIMATION CANCELING (AC)!!!!! Saves a ton of time and makes a 1-day run much more possible to complete. Press "R", "right shift", and "delete" keys at the same time to cancel the animation of the club or weapon (takes practice to get the right timing). For rocks, try to cancel the moment the rock breaks and the sword after the enemy takes damage. You can rebind the keys BUT!!!!!!!!! it has to be 1:1. No macros or multiple keys bound to a single input. You can tape the keys down (like me) but it can be a little awkward.

Update - 1.5 is best to use. Forest farm is still most consistent, but beach farm has the "best" possible chance (finding crates that have food, coffee, or cherry bombs). Don't search much for the crates, but do a very quick check near the greenhouse. REMIXED MINES is best, allowing you to potentially get a club on floor 10/20 chests. You do run the risk of no weapon upgrade on floor 20, but worth it.

Edit - you can check the bus stop for safety food if you want, but at the loss of some time. Also, break the purple random gem nodes. They give super easy exp and if you find a diamond it's instant level 1 mining. Aquamarine or Jade drop is still very good exp.

Alright folks, it's been a week since 1.6 dropped and it's already been a wild start! So many new mechanics, QoL fixes, and general nonsense. We're going to start lifting the embargo here on 1.6 runs, sometime tonight the options should populate on SRC and you'll be able to select the new version. W
