120 Mines Glitchless - Slingshot Route (old guide)
Updated 2 years ago by Chikorita

Starting screen -Names don't matter (obviously no "codes" that would apply to glitch categories) -Character doesn't matter -Location set to the Forest Farm (less stuff in your path + sometimes can find food) -Make sure to have the "skip cutscene" checked before starting

Day 1 - Go outside and cut 3 trees (and stumps) down to make a chest. Can be placed wherever you want, but you will put your tools into the chest (except pickax). In the same menu, go to the settings tab and change your zoom settings (zoomed out). Go to bed.

2-4 sleep as fast as possible. Hold the "D" key and just spam the "Y" key (faster than using your mouse to select "yes" for sleeping)

Day 5 - move the TV down next to the bed and check your luck. If it's lucky you go to the mines (north path, left of the house) and pick up any food on your path.

If you had bad luck, sleep again and check Saturday. If bad luck again, reset. (food spawns reset on Sunday's + you lose 8 seconds each extra sleep and tv check cycle).

FIRST TIME IN MINES

GOALS -pick up any valuable items to sell later (to buy explosive ammo from the adventure's guild) -reach level 1 mining skill the first day -don't use all your food (preferably)

Pick up most of the available copper (for bombs), amethyst, and other valuable items on floors for money. I usually have minimum 80 copper when reaching floor 40 (less than that and you'll be hurting). You WON'T have enough inventory space for everything, so you'll need to make choices on what to keep.

Kill crabs/duggies (if in a nice location) for early cherry bomb chances AND duggies can drop diamonds...which are amazing if you get a diamond drop.

WHEN TO FAINT FIRST DAY (faint on a multiple of 5 preferably in the future too) -Do not faint if you haven't hit 100 exp for mining. -Only faint on 10,15, 20, or 25 if you can help it. -Ration your food so you can faint faster on one of those floors. -When you reach one of these floors with enough exp, swing your ax or pickax to lower your energy so you can pass out

NEXT DAY - HOPE YOU DON'T HAVE GOOD LUCK -You need to put items into the selling bin. Why? Because you want to enter the Adventure's Guild on your second mine's day to buy explosive ammo and maybe a weapon.

IMPORTANT - If you don't get a weapon drop from an enemy, floor 25 crates, or floor 30 crates, you'll purchase a Pirate's Sword (850g). Pirate's Sword is about the same as a Forest Sword (drop), but you preferably want a Wood Club (drop).

IMPORTANT---IMPORTANT---IMPORTANT---IMPORTANT---IMPORTANT -ALL CLUBS ARE "BROKEN" - Use the special attack (Right mouse button) and during it's animation, spam click Left mouse button + the C key (on your keyboard) to land extra hits. Important, the game can lock up your character, sometimes from this or swapping in your toolbar too quickly. If this happens, pray it's temporary, because there is a chance of your character permanently "freezing". You'll have to close out of Stardew Valley (using Task Manager) if it's a permanent freeze.

AFTER DAY 5

SECOND MINING DAY - Check your mail for the Adventure's Guild Initiation quest. You'll need to kill 10 green slimes to get into the guild to buy ammo.

-Kill slimes as you descend. TRY TO GET TO FLOOR 40 BEFORE 2:00pm and then finish the quest (use the elevator to check floors 21->15->11->5 and repeat to look for slimes). PICK UP THE SLINGSHOT ON FLOOR 40. IF YOU DON'T YOU CAN'T BUY AMMO!!!!

-You'll still be collecting things to sell the next day and kill duggies (for a diamond drop chance). -Try to hit level 2 mining to craft your own staircases. -Pick up boots on floor 50.

-Check TV for luck. If it's a lucky day you'll finish the mines. If unlucky, sleep until it's a lucky day. (remember - 8 seconds lost for each extra sleep + tv check)

AFTER SECOND MINING DAY - Check tv luck, sell stuff, buy ammo from the guild (2:00pm-10:00pm)

-I usually complete 120 in 4 days, usually floor about floor 80-120 in one day. Last day you might not be able to buy more ammo if you're going at a nice pace.

-Pick up the boots on floor 80 and Obsidian Sword on floor 90. Boots you can skip, but you risk taking more damage.

IMPORTANT NOTES

-killing an enemy has a 15% chance of dropping a ladder -killing all the enemies on a normal floor increasing ladder chance from a rock by ~4% (sometimes better to kill enemies first for these two reasons) -rock crabs can drop cherry bombs (40% chance) -duggies (found in dirt/sand) have a low chance of cherry bombs -early cherry bombs on the first day can help you get mining exp (I use them for clusters of 4 or more copper ore spawned together)

-FLOOR 30-39 ARE DARK FLOORS!!!!! pick up a torch (or glow ring if you're lucky) to swap to when not mining to give extra vision. If you have good eyesight (and monitor) you can occasionally see brown pixels of the ladder (RISKY!!!!!) -ALSO-every time you break a rock on these floors, press the Right Mouse Button! Make this a habit so that you can click on ladders faster (and so you don't miss one in the dark)

-checking crates/boxes are your choice. sometimes contain food, items, copper, coal, and a weapon

-MAKE SURE TO PICK UP COAL FROM MINECART FLOORS. You need at least 20 coal, 40 to be safe to be able to use all of your copper for cherry bombs.

-ladders sometime spawn naturally. sometimes it's better to check for a natural spawn FIRST, or break a few rocks while checking the map for a "free" ladder.

Update - ANIMATION CANCELING (AC) - Saves a ton of time. Press "R", "right shift", and "delete" keys at the same time to cancel the animation of the club or weapon (takes practice to get the right timing). For rocks, try to cancel the moment the rock breaks and the sword after the enemy takes damage. You can rebind the keys BUT!!!!!!!!! it has to be 1:1. No macros or multiple keys bound to a single input. You can tape the keys down (like me) but it can be a little awkward.
