How to revert game to version 1.0.6 (and why you may want to do so)

2020-05-25 Update: After further testing, reverting to prior to 1.0.7 is no longer recommended for any players.

2019-09-20: Prior to version 1.0.7, there was a bug that allowed the player to jump from slightly above a platform, and after jumping, have the gravity set to the higher value that it gets set to after inking. This can be performed while falling right before landing, or while moving upwards and horizontally onto a platform so that you're right above the edge of the platform as you jump. Because of the higher gravity during the jump, your jump will be faster yet shorter in both length and height. The difference is enough that while with full gravity it is easy to jump and ink at the peak to reach a height of four blocks, with a jump at high gravity it is impossible to reach a height of four blocks, even if you ink at the peak. This makes some jumps, such as the last one in the cave in the first area after Blipton, impossible without actually landing on a platform before jumping to reset your gravity.

In version 1.0.7, this was changed so that these jumps do not increase your gravity. This means that you're able to reach a height of four blocks with one of these jumps if you ink at the peak. However, it means that you lose time in certain areas, especially the library, because these jumps take longer between jumping and landing than jumps at high gravity. An good alternative to doing a jump at high gravity is to jump and then quickly ink to reduce your upward velocity and increase your gravity, but this is harder to pull off effectively in some places. Overall, I think version 1.0.7 can be completed faster optimally, but versions prior to 1.0.7 are easier to get a sub-9 in.

To revert to version 1.0.6, first press WindowsKey+R to open the run prompt and type in: "steam://open/console"

Then type the following command into the Steam console: "download_depot 799510 799511 2067147739408050660"

Here, 799510 is the Steam database's ID for Squidlit, 799511 is the Depot ID for Squidlit, and 2067147739408050660 is the Manifest ID for version 1.0.6. If for some reason you would like to revert to a version prior to 1.0.6, check https://steamdb.info/depot/799511/manifests/ for the manifest ID for that version, and enter that number instead.

Then, go to [Path to Steam folder]/Steam/steamapps/content/app_799510/depot_799511 and replace the Squidlit data, which should be in [Path to Steam folder]/Steam/steamapps/common/Squidlit, with the downloaded game data.

To prevent Steam from automatically updating Squidlit, first exit Steam (never edit appmanifest files while Steam is running), open [Path to Steam folder]/Steam/steamapps/appmanifest_799510, look for the line beginning with "State Flags" (including the quotation marks) and change the value to the right of it to "4" (again, including the quotation marks), save the file, and launch Steam.
