I know the moderator has a tonne of stuff on his mind after the Nintendo Direct announcement of a lifetime yesterday, so I wanted to let everyone know that there's a SOOT speedrun contest - let me ^C^V the deets here:
To help celebrate the first two confirmed and on-camera completions of our platformer "SOOT" I'm excited to announce an ALL-NEW cash bounty contest!
For the remainder of February 2023, we're accepting submissions of captures of your full runs to finish the game!
Prizes awarded are:
⦁ First Place: $50CDN paid out as $25CDN directly to the best time and $25CDN to the charity of the winner's choice (subject to approval). ⦁ Second Place: $25CDN. ⦁ And a further $25CDN raffled to all other participants who complete the game in under thirty minutes.
Rules are:
⦁ Submission has to be a submitted Speedrun on speedrun.com by midnight EST February 28th. ⦁ Your attempt must be captured entirely on video. An on-screen timer is strongly encouraged. ⦁ This must be a fresh attempt with no levels unlocked before the timer begins or outside of gameplay (no "God Mode" if such a thing existed.) ⦁ Progression and time must begin when you open level one, and stops when you enter the door on level fifty. ⦁ You must play the game in its original form and the code may not be modified. Sprites and music may be substituted. Music may be muted. ⦁ No aids may be employed other than a joystick to keyboard application to allow controller support as the original only had keyboard or touch support (NO TURBO BUTTON). ⦁ Notes and coaching are permitted. ⦁ HAVE FUN!
For reference, SOOT is available to play in browser or Itch client here: https://gartekstudios.itch.io/soot And here are the only completions of Soot available on YouTube:
Soot's developer GartekStudios is running a speedrunning contest with cash prizes. First and second fastest time at the end of February get 50$ and 25$ respectively and everyone with a sub 30 time gets in a pool for 25$ (all CAD).
