Techniques

Quick Execute: Minimal Time Save When fighting Large Phantoms, when they take enough damage, they will go into a stun animation with a B over their head. By pressing B, you perform an execution, which are animations that take 2-3 seconds and damage enemies in the surrounding area. You can kill these enemies faster by doing a few options.

  1. Double Jab By tapping X twice, you can pretty much guarantee that the enemies will go into a death animation. Works especially if you have some investment in Toughness. This also gives you a little time to reposition before any end-of-fight cut-scenes. On occasion, firing two web pellets also gives the desired effect. Neither are very consistent, though it is more consistent in the Symbiote Suit.
  2. Fall-Off If a stunned Large Phantom is near enough to an edge, you can punch them 3 times, which causes them to fall back. This is faster than a full Execute and more consistent than Double Jab.

Feint: No Time Save/Time Loss/Swag Strat When using some of the quick execute strategies or any other method of defeating Large Phantoms, they will die without an execution, but if you press B while they are disappearing and before they are gone, you will perform a "feint", where you begin the execution animation and it stops early. It saves no time, but it can be pretty cool to look at.

Long Jump: Moderate Time Save During the Scorpion fight, from the starting platform, with a precise double jump you can make it all the way up to the Scorpion platform. This saves a ton of time on this specific fight, but that's about it.

Spike Ladder: Minimal Time Save During the Scorpion fight, he will launch green orbs at you. These orbs will launch you up if you are in the air. From that hit stun, you can jump again, which ignores the need to go around or through the lava to go up onto the perch. This is most useful when you are on the opposite side of the perch. This can lead to very quick Scorpion fights, but it's a small part of the game, so it saves up to tens of seconds per run. Still, a useful backup strat if the fight goes haywire.

Quip Skip: Sanity Save In this game, and all Spider-Man games, Peter Parker is a big fan of quips. He talks, and a lot. You do not need the sound to play this game effectively and to your full potential, so I recommend muting it for yourself and playing something else. You will thank me and your brain. This is a long run, you need your stamina.

Splits: There are twenty levels and five worlds, so there are 3 ways to split, and I will go from most to least splits depending on confidence and dedication.

LEVELS: This style of split is good if your runs are relatively optimized and you want your individual levels to be better. Your splits will be: J-1 - J-4 T-1 - T-4 E-1 - E-4 V-1 - V-4 N-1 - N-4

BOSSES: This style of split is good for beginners to feel like your making progress. You split every other level when a story cut scene plays. Your splits will be: Doc Ock Green Goblin Scorpion Rhino Lizard Sandman Blade Venom Symbiote Mysterio

Personally, I opt to name the split after the character's real name or the most famous actor who played them, like a nerd.

WORLDS: I wouldn't recommend it, but you can do it by location. This makes each split around 40 minutes. Your splits will be: Tokyo, Japan Tangaroa Island Cairo, Egypt Transylvania Nepal

GLOSSARY: Quick Execution - (check Strats) Flick Web - When going for a throw or shot, the game will often automatically lock you onto an object or enemy you have no interest in attacking. This also affects where you throw an enemy. Flick Punch - Practically a Flick Web, but with melee attacks, most often when destroying the Phantom Transmitter. Hulk - The largest type of phantom, a mini-boss in just about every level, but are never given a name in-game. There are plenty of nicknames for these creatures, such as: Hulk, Mongo, Thickums, Clappers, Colossi, Blobs, Sumos Blue Run - A magical run where you complain exactly 0 times. Nothing negative about the game. It's impossible. Trust me.
