Category Request Thread #1

Beat 1-4 is really intresting category, even if there is no fun or unique things. This is like small copy of any%, and it is pretty easy to play it and it is great chance for beginners to start speedrun, because after deleting IL's there is no categories to start. Any% is too hard for people who never played this game before. Also pretty intresting, will somebody do a new WR grind for this category (the ways to it are also like a small copy of any% WR ways). Just a my opinion of course.

I agree, this is a god send for new and old members alike as new members have a category they can get started with really easily and older members can finally get a WR again as long as Darbian doesn't find out about this.

Category Name: All Coins Rules: Time 1:Starts on first frame 400 appears 2:Time Ends when you get the last coin 3: You must get all coins except for the bonus room coins.

There is no way that a human will collect all the coins from all the coin blocks. Better idea is to collect all coins that appear on the screen (all visible coins)

roopert or one of you please accept at least one of my Softlock speedruns.

This is the category request thread. This isn't the "please verify my run thread."

Your runs have only been out there a day. We will get to it.

Category name: Super mario bros. minus world ending PAL Runners: all those that have only PAL but still want a legit leader board for minus ending Rules: Timing starts on first frame 400 appears in top right, ends first frame mario enters the pipe. No left and right at same time, etc.

Extra info: Just makes sense to have a separate category due to version differences as some category's are unfair for those with only access to PAL version

Germany

I think it would make more sense to call it sth like "(non-FDS)" instead of "(US)" and of course allow PAL. Regarding PAL categories in general, I'm always wary of anything that doubles the number of categories like that.

@i-o-l I named it US version because FDS is Japanese version, NTSC is US version and PAL is Euro version and was a different category from NTSC in ILs.

I thought the US and Japan used the same thing lol

Germany

yeah, japanese and us cartridges have the same rom, the FDS version is a later release

Ukraine

I think even without minus world ending PAL we should add any% (PAL), it willn't be duplicate of category, because there is no any% in category extensions.

I think AISSON is a good idea, and I think PAL should have its own category for its physics differences, speed differences.

11x Categories - New Timing Method

Hey Folks!

Just wanted to announce a new change to timing methods for both 11x categories. The new timing standards are as follows:

  • Timing starts from power-on/reset (or game select if you're using one of the combo cartridges).
  • Timing ends on grabbing the axe on the 11th run.
