Hello, 3DW+BF community! As of late, we have started making new changes to ensure fairness, efficiency, and legitimacy throughout the leaderboards. Out of the dozen changes we have made, here are the most important.

#1 - Bowser's Fury Bowser Amiibo Runs

Since the game's release, the Bowser amiibo categories for Bowser's Fury speedruns have allowed the usage of the Bowser amiibo, but haven't enforced it. This has led to numerous people submitting their no amiibo runs into the Bowser amiibo categories. Even though it is a huge disadvantage to not use amiibo, the lack of usage of such creates a faulty equilibrium throughout the leaderboards. As a result, the mod team has decided to enforce the usage of Bowser amiibo in Bowser amiibo categories.

#2 - External Skins

Even though this affects very few runners, this topic is still important to cover. Throughout the game's lifespan, certain runners have been using external skins that change the characters' physical appearance. This includes yellow Toad and Daisy being seen as playable characters. These speedruns were previously allowed due to the fact that it does not affect anything gameplay-wise. However, it is not a part of the vainilla game which has effectively led to its ban. Runs that include external skins will not be accepted anymore, but the runs who used them will remain on the leaderboards.

#3 - Turbo Controls

This is not a change but something that must be addressed. Turbo, since the release of the game, has been banned. This is in accordance to the speedrun.com site rules (see the first bullet point under Game Rules on the link below), which bans turbo from being used in games unless explicitly stated otherwise. This rule has been seemingly ignored by many members of the community, since it is not listed within any category/game rules, so we have decided to include this rule within the game rules, consequently banning it from all leaderboards with no excuse to submit a run with turbo.
