I'd love for someone to explain how 2 turns, with revolution & build city, is sufficient to meet the requirements for beating the game.
It sounds to me like someone screwed up the language of the category rules, and things need to be tightened up so players actually have to accomplish something? :P
This current 28 second record doesn't appear to me to accomplish anything or serve any purpose in the context of speedrunning???
Years ago, the game was beaten. Then, years later, a game breaking glitch allowed you meet the same victory conditions much quicker.
If there were any interest, the category could be split into glitch/non-glitch sub category.
I do believe it could be split between two categories as it is indeed much more impressive to actually finish the game on the game's terms. I don't know how complicated it is for @NihilistComedyHour to do though. I do believe it does count as finishing the game as it's pretty common in speedrun to exploit a game's coding weaker point to your advantage.
I must say, after watching your POP Any% run, I don't exactly understand the problem you have with this run @Akuma_apn
@josnib -- I don't have a problem with it. I'm just familiar with the game, and unfamiliar with this "exploit," and trying to get some context for what's happening.
I'm also familiar with things like SMW Credits Warp. Just not exactly seeing the similarity here.
This just brings me back to my original question. What is the technical goal speedrunners are attempting to reach here? Coming from a place of ignorance. Lol
Edit: I guess it is a kind of credits warp. Curious to know what's happening though. :O
Besides the fact starting a revolution on Turn 1, or whatever, results in some sort of glitched Conquest victory screen, I don't think anyone could tell you much more about the mechanics of how it works exactly.
I was looking this morning and couldn't find a singular refernece, though I did find this:
"Glitches
- Game FinishBe Russia, then name your 4th town Mizohu, and it will show every non-wonder building, 2000 turns, and future tech 24 in 1 turn. Contributed By: Cubex23451"
No idea if that's true though.
