It will record, but whenever I speedrun, it is basically at 6 FPS and is usually less than 2 minutes for no reason.

I had this problem on my toaster computer. But it randomly got fixed all of a sudden about a week after I downloaded OBS and now its working fine.

If you have an NVIDIA card you can always record with shadowplay. Records the entire screen but it's a great recorder.
