Trickiest part: the map

Let's be honest: the trickiest part is the random map. I'm pretty sure there is some kind of a logical pattern that will help. For example that some areas or some locations are always next to each other or something. I think it's the most challenging and also most frustrating part speedrunning the game and getting totally lost sometimes. I'll screenshot the map for every run to see if there's a pattern...

totally agree. I noticed that Church, Villa and Mines entrace are always placed in the same spot. Bakery and Tool are RNG and you need a bit of luck

The map of the town will consist of something like this:

When you're looking for the Bakery, I believe it will be located at this tile (column 1, row 2 above):

I think this because my last few runs, when I look at the map, that's where it seems to be:

A quick glance at the map can tell you exactly where the bakery is. The mine locations are also based on the town section above it. I'm not sure what section it is tied too but if I can figure that out, 1 glance at the map can give us all the information we need for any%.

Each tile in the first picture above, can be rotated in any direction and connected with a different section. Not sure if some parts can only be connected to some areas, like Claudia's house is always next to the bolt cutters (hardware store?).

Hopefully this helps a little...

Also, it seems the Bakery will always have this car parked by it:

So, if you see a flat bed with junk in the back, that's the Bakery, even if you cannot see the front.

Good findings there!

Very interesting stuff, great work.

I only have about 4 test points to go off of, but it seem that the Monorail is always in the same location. The Monorail always seems to be under the Dam (start of the game).

Mine Layout (Red is the start of the mine, Blue is the Monorail):

Mine Layout 2:

Mine Layout 3:

So as you can see, the path to the Monorail seems to be the same no matter what the town layout is. So, at least for Any%, the mines shouldn't be much of an issue.

Hello, thought I'd chip in. Everything outside the 5x3 octagonal grid is static. There are exactly 15 octagonal tiles, so every tile is present exactly once. The same cannot be said of the square connector tiles, which seem to be chosen so as to connect all open passageways from the adjacent (octagonal) tiles. Here's what the cave map looks like without the procedurally generated components:

Additionally, at this stage I believe a tile is comprised of both the surface and cave terrain (A tile on the surface is always matched to the same tile in the caves, because they are in-fact the same tile). I'm hoping to (perhaps with the help of Rodas) detail the contents of every tile over the coming weeks and integrate that information into my clue tool.
