Guide for R-Type! (RNG)

Level 1:

Just keep shooting and stay back, and never sit idle because that will kill you.
For the part with the spinning robots, try to stay in the middle or down, and beware that destroyed aliens are not passable and will kill you.
For the boss, you can get a one-cycle by shooting your laser upgrade thing into the belly (his second mouth?).

Level 2:

Very straightforward, if you have the diagonal upgrade this level is honestly kind of a joke compared to level 1. Things will mostly come out of the ground and jump diagonally.
For the boss, try to say low (close to the eye) and keep shooting. You should be able to kill him in one cycle before the snake gets too close.

Level 3:

This level is pretty simple, there is a huge spaceship and you have to keep shooting it. It's very destructible which makes the autoscroll a lot less boring, but yeah. I believe there are 2 ways to beat this level, since you only have to defeat the blue thing at the end, but to make things a lot more simple, you can crash everything down under, and when you're on the other side, you eject your upgrade, like in level 1, put it on your back, smash all the turrets, eject again and put it on the front, and when the coast is clear you can go to the blue thing and shoot its eyes out. It dies very quickly especially with the diagonal upgrade and the rockets, so don't worry.
There is no boss for this stage, but try to keep your diagonal shooter.

Level 4: 

This level can be tricky. The new enemies, the "Snake"s, that work according to the popular mobile game, will leave a trail of destructible orbs behind. The diagonal beams won't instantly destroy them, so be wary. The walls they make can hold off enemies and their shots, so that's fun, but you can also get stabbed in the back, so don't rely on it too much. The boss is probably the easiest in the game, just shoot the green parts till they all explode I guess.

Level 5:

The spinning monsters are annoying but if you shoot their heads off the parts fly away, just make sure not to get hit by them.
The boss fight is easy: You just need to keep close and keep shooting, and the asteroids will melt away. To kill the boss, just shoot the center star a bit and it'll collapse.

Level 6: 

Basic maneuvering is required here, to get around the torpedoes (I think?). The boss is just avoiding the torpedoes again.

Level 7:

Basic bullet hell level. Boss is a rain of enemies. Try to stay to the left and avoid enemies falling down, and survive for about 30 seconds and you've got it.

Level 8 (Final Level):

This level is fairly short. I'd say the boss makes up for it but you can kill it in two cycles. Basically, when the "mouth" opens, eject your pod into it and let it shoot. Continue shooting and avoid the blue balls while trying to move as little as possible. It shouldn't take long before the boss dies.

It isn't known if lag ("flickering") affects the game's speed, but it's generally advised to kill all enemies since the ending animation is always the same.

Congratulations! You beat the game. It is very tricky to beat without dying a lot, I know, but with the power of EMUs, you can practice each level accordingly and get a nice time. This game has been a classic in US arcades and I am happy it was part of a RNG roll.
