So here's my guide to speedrunning tower of hell :D hope this will help!
- Practice
Just practice daily and get better with training. Remember that practice makes progress not perfect. Just play every day and you will improve your speedrunning skills. It's not like you will magically become better immediately. It takes time, but it doesn't take 5 years to get that good. You just need to play tower of hell almost every day and your skill will improve.
- Shortcuts
Now this is important; you NEED to use shortcuts for speedrunning toh. There are some pretty good shortcuts that are not that hard to learn and/or use. I recommend looking up "tower of hell op shortcuts" online or something else like that. You can also go to this game called 'Tower of Hell Sandbox' and you can get a free private server in it along with the usual private server commands (note that u are not allowed to speedrun in that game tho, you need to do it in the actual tower of hell game) and practice shortcuts and your speedrunning skill there so no one will bug you with those annoying mutators lol. I heavily recommend that game as it will help a LOT. You will improve once you learn and practice some toh shortcuts.
- Consistency
Big tip for speedrunning; Never. Stop. Walking. If you do you will lose momentum and you will lose your speed. Try to stop the habit of stopping every 5 seconds when playing toh. Another thing about speedrunning is luck. Even though speedrunning is based on skill, for this game it also matters about the stages you get for your speedrun. Quick description about the stages; There are 4 types of stages in tower of hell: Locals, Phantoms, Killbrick, and Air stages. Locals have moving parts/platforms in the stage, Phantoms have parts/platforms that appear and disappear (don't get confused by these 2 types of stages), Killbrick sections have, well, killbricks ofc. And lastly, Air stages have these columns of air (that's what I'd call it ig) and it pushes you in the direction its going to help (sometimes it doesn't) beat the stage. There's also called Vanilla sections but those are stages that haven't been removed from the game. If you are wondering what this has to do with consistency, is that you should avoid locals and phantoms as much as possible (eg. The Phantoms Return, Rays, etc.) The reason why is because most locals and phantoms stages slow you down since you have to wait for the part to appear/come to you before you can continue speedrunning. Not all of those Local and Phantom stages slow you down or take a long time to beat (like Return to Sender) but its best to try and avoid most of those really long stages stages at all costs. Remember though, that even if its not a local or phantom, doesn't mean it won't take long to beat it. Also try to find short stages as they are quick and easy (Jump, Dice, etc.)
Lastly I just wanted to say good luck on your speedrunning journey. "You will find some dead ends, but you will always find the exit, if you just keep trying." -jablox_999 (yes I made that quote up lol) note that I probably will be able to edit this guide (if I can) cuz there maybe is a mistake here and there
