Small explanation for the trick at the end: the speed you get from the key depends on your angular velocity. When holding W+D and space while using shift lock, for example, your angular velocity is around 6.28 radians per second. When you turn around without using shift lock, you can get an angular velocity of around 23-24 radians per second. You can then enable shift lock to use that angular velocity for gear speed glitches, though you don't keep that angular velocity for long. If you do this while going off a ledge, coyote timing (the mechanic that lets you jump off a ledge late) will maintain your angular velocity, which means you keep picking up speed, which I use for getting enough speed to make the gap.
