Here is a few tips on making your rangework less abound with frustrations as well as details on the challenges on the Level Leaderboard!
-
Consider buffer recording, the feature that allows you to save past gameplay at a hotkey. Many tools can be used to that effect, from Nvidia Shadowplay through Windows Game Bar to even OBS Studio. Their buffer size is sufficient for any good-time run. The caveat is that you MUST NOT forget to press the keypress to record your run (God knows I made that mistake), but the advantage is that you don't have to sift through possibly hours of useless footage and it will be easier to trim for verification.
-
Before a run, make sure you have enough ammo (either loaded in mags or in inventory) for the entire attempt, even if you're only practicing. You never know when a run might be going very well and it may be ruined by running dry.
-
Perform tactical reloads between each run on high-capacity firearms, even if the amount of targets is less than half of the magazine. You may make a miss the last attempt, forget that you made it and be dry on the next - potentially excellent - run.
-
Strive to finish the par highscores given by the game first, even if you already have your chosen weapon. It will give you more magazines and most importantly a Gun Cleaning Kit, which negates any weapon malfuctions for a time. The clean will last for 100 rounds or so.
-
Many NDs occur during maintenance and cleaning, check your weapon immediately before cleaning.
-
Consider using the Custom Music channel of the intercom for your aural pleasure :) Make sure it doesn't overpower the game audio entirely for verification purposes.
As for the challenges:
The Small and Big Target challenges all have 13 targets and the Random has 10 targets. This means 6+6+1 and 6+4 loading respectively on revolvers. You may decide to shoot the single round at the beginning, or the end, or the middle, or even come up with your own loading distribution (maybe load 5+5 for the Random shooting), but do practice partial reloads as they are unavoidable. Speed reloads with the Colt M1911 and Hi-Point are also a must.
