Guide to reducing lag on a low-end system

This game can be very demanding in terms of memory usage as expected, and putting it on lowest settings may not be enough to make the game run at a frame rate that would be desirable for speedrunning if you have a low-end system. In this guide, I will go through some extra steps that you can try to make the game run smoother.

* If you are running the game on Windows 10/11, first thing you need to do is go to Settings > Gaming and disable both Xbox Game Bar and "Game Mode", from my observation, they seem to only hurt performance especially when using a recording tool like OBS. This step makes the biggest difference and honestly try playing the game after this and do the following steps only if the game is like unplayable after this step.

* Go to:
`%userprofile%\AppData\Local\Raji\Saved\Config\WindowsNoEditor`
(You can copy paste the above in your address bar)

* Open `GameUserSettings.ini` file in notepad/notepad++

* In the `[ScalabilityGroups]` section, change all the values except the resolution quality to 0. Save the file and exit.

* Open `Engine.ini` in notepad/notepad++
Copy and paste the following lines to the end of the file (if there is any content already present):

This reduces some unnecessary effects and makes the game run a bit faster.

How to use the saves:

1) All you savegames are located in:
 "%userprofile%\AppData\Local\Raji\Saved\SaveGames"
You can copy the above directory (without the quotation marks) and paste in your address bar to go to the saves folder.

2) You can use the saves provided in the resources section. When you download and extract it, you will find many folders with location names. Inside each folder there will be a bunch of .sav files. If you want to load a specific location, you need to go into that appropriate folder and copy the files in the folder and paste/replace them with the ones mentioned in the folder in step 1.

3) Next time when you load the game, you will be in the new save that you replaced with.

4) Its worth noting that you can replace the saves and reload while being ingame as long as the save you are replacing it is in the same region as the region you are currently in game. (Regions being Ruins, Fortress, Golden City, Mystic Lands, Dream and Desert). But say for example you are in Fortress in-game but you want to replace with a save from Mystic Lands, then you will have to quit the game and do it, else you will just be taken to a random place in Fortress.

Setting Up the Autosplitter

1.) Setup Livesplit: http://livesplit.github.io/downloads/

2.) Right click anywhere in Livesplit and choose *Open Splits -> From File...*

3.) Open the splits file found in the Resources tab of this site for the appropriate category.

4.) Right click anywhere in Livesplit and choose *Edit Splits*

5.) Underneath the Attempts box ensure that the Activate button is clicked.

6.) Enjoy. The script auto-splits and auto-detects category based on your splits file.

Side Notes: The name of each split is unimportant. If making your own splits, you need to ensure you have the number of splits the script is expecting, and that the category and subcategory are set correctly. If you discover a bug please notify me (G M P#0177) on Discord so we can fix it.

Tip: The script doesn't have a auto-start option. But you can start the game with the same hotkey that you use to start the timer (which is Numpad1 by default).
