the Xbox one, Xbox one x, ps4/ps4 pro, and the switch run at 60fps while the (probably most) pc’s and (all) Xbox series s/x and ps5’s are stuck running at 120fps. Just wondering if they should be a separate category since it may be an advantage playing at a lower frame rate. Feel free to tell me I’m an idiot lol I’m just pulling things out my behind and seeing what sticks at this point
Leaderboards use IGT, and while I haven't actually tested to see if framerate differences affect the IGT, I'd assume that regardless of framerate the IGT should be more or less the same if the player were to do the exact same inputs.
I'd argue higher fps would be the one with the real advantage in most instances, simply due to more precision. The true gap is really just whether you're using a controller or not, which the leaderboards already account for. Just my 2 cents anyway.
(For context I run e2m1) That makes sense, after I posted this I ended up digging up my old Xbox one and running on that. After about an hour of playing and not getting a single 9 second run (even on easy) I plugged my series x back in and it felt like I was playing a completely different game for the first 10 minutes. So I do have to agree after my own tests that the higher frame rate really makes a difference, I just dropped an insane looking 9:56 on easy so it definitely helps
