Hey everyone; I wanted to make everyone aware of a glitch I found back when I played this game all the time. This was on PS3 so I don't know if it will work on Xbox or PC. On the last level, if you enter the parking garage enough to trigger the first voice line but not far enough so that you trigger the door closing behind you, you can walk back out into the desert. Since the game thinks you're inside, the heat effect that kills you is disabled. Due to this, you can walk across the desert to the glass dome. From here, you can walk straight to the end of the level without needing to do much at all. IIRC the enemies aren't aggro'd, but the flames present in the level are invisible so it is tricky to pull off at first. I wanted to try it out in a run myself but the top runners are clearly better equipped to try pulling it off LOL. I posted this comment on other runner's videos but wanted to make it known to everyone I can find that runs this game. I used to play this game for HOURS almost every day and was passionate about it, so I hope to see the running community expand and I don't wanna gatekeep any info. I hope it helps with everyone's runs!
The end of the level sadly doesn't work if you do that glitch, but if someone found a way to get it working, it would be the holy grail of speedrunning this game!
Yeah, just to clarify, you trigger the checkpoint and I think the objective but not the shutter closing, and it disables the death barrier.
The problem is that the game checks that all objectives have been completed before making the final keypad (the one which triggers the final boss) active. This isn't the case for all levels (Barge for example has the button prompt active at all times), but unfortunately since Eco Hotel checks, there's no (known) way of finishing the level without playing it in order. However other triggers in the level are always active, like the kitchen fire and structural collapses in the hotel rooms, and it's amusing to drop back into the hotel from the windows on the ceiling and start sequence breaking.
As of today, Quantum of Solace PC speedruns will now be timed without loads. To automatically time your run without loads, just download Livesplit, then in your splits settings, select this game and enable the autosplitter. After that, your timer will automatically pause during the loading screens.
