What do you mean? So if you have to do something, stop the race? Let's see, I think you can, but from what I understand about this page is that if it is a long race and you have to do something you must leave the timer active. But depending on what pauses there may be different things. Because what should you do? (I am not saying that what I said is true, it is what I understand)
yoshi thx. i meant the timer not the game cause its not in the rules
No im pretty sure that you cant pause the timer during a run - if you pause the game the timer has to continue - it is just a timeloss as wolfattack says.
The exception to this is categories which are timed by in-game time, so the timer is paused during cutscenes and when the game is paused.
If you have a specific run when you had to pause the game and timer for some reason you could ask the mods if it would be accepted, but generally timing is the real time from when the run starts to when the run ends.
You can pause the game at any point, but not the timer. Technically you could do a TA run, which does allow paused timers, however you would not be able to submit.
All categories aside from ILs are timed using "Real Time Attack" rules which do not allow pausing of the timer under any circumstances. Mods and verifiers will, depending on some factors of the run, re-time a run that has timer pauses in it to return an accurate RTA time for the entire run.
