Would it be faster to collect the star at the midway point in 1-2?
I think it's technically faster, as the TAS does it iirc, but I think it's hard to collect it fast enough for it to be worth the extra time taken collecting it.

Yeah what cros said. And if you get a pixel stop and hit the star block on accident you can get it for safety if you want, but I don't think that even saves time over ignoring it.
