Is there a difference in load times between an emulator, PS2 and PS1? I understand there's a difference between PAL and NTSC.
Emulators should be roughly equal to PS1, if you're using a good one anyway. Now PS2 is where it gets fun, right
PS2 has a mode called Fast Disc Speed (FDS), which allows you to cut load times real short. This saves ~1m30s or some shit compared to PS1 or even Standard Disc Speed.
PS2 isn't the only console with FDS, though. PSP, Vita and PSTV also have an FDS option. All of which are actually faster than the PS2.
PS3 is a pile of wank
you enable it by going to the ps2 main menu (for lack of a better term), and going to version, playstation driver options, and switching from disc speed standard to disc speed fast
A PS2 emulator would throw you out the window, they're not exactly accurate with the console they're trying to emulate as is
Also a PS2 emulator cannot emulate PS1 games. EDIT: Nevermind they added support for it last September
Been playing around on my Vita version (PAL) and Pull said that it cuts load times, but it also speeds up the entire game, not just the load times. Using external timing on a crappy Crash Cove run, a time of 1:28 was actually 1:25 RTA. (In comparison to a PS1 emulator, a time of 1:23.14 was actually 1:24.42 externally.) Does this sped up of actual gameplay happen on PS2 as well?
