Full run timing

I’m not sure if it’s even possible to get the battery life required for a run in one session, so how does that work? Can runs be recorded in multiple sessions and stitched together in the final video? Any other way to do it? Thanks

Think you just have to figure out a way to charge it while playing. I'm not sure what exactly FOK did but using a battery bank or something like that seems viable.

We could allow segmented runs if it comes down to it, I suppose, but I think that's something we should try to avoid if at all possible.

So far I can’t keep it charged long enough even with it being charged while using it. The max I can get using it even while charging during play is probably around two hours? I’m going to aim for making a run work in under that time but if it’s not possible I don’t really see any other way to do this? This may become more of a common problem with longer exclusive games. Maybe I just a bett power solution though.

Another question I had is what happens if the game crashes? Is it ok to just restart it and keep going? Otherwise a great run can be ruined so easily by a random crash.

Hmm. 2 hours is supposed to be the battery life on its own, that's pretty rough.

And yeah continuing after a crash is fine.

With recording it’s even worse, but I’ll give it a shot and see how it goes. Thanks!

If you're recording on device I would suggest casting it to your computer with the quest developer hub and recording that instead, it's less draining on the headset

ive been practicing for a run, and ive been doing what big bear said and also having the headset plugged in with a 10 foot cable so i can still move and have it not lose a lot of battery and its been working decently well for me

Anyone considered powered link cables?

Quick update on this. Found some ways to get enough power, still working on a good run. I disabled bluetooth and started using the recommended power cable with a power bank which allows me to play without cables and record the run too. I’ve had some crazy glitches including a black screen of death which seems impossible to escape sometimes, but see there’s more updates coming soon so that will be interesting. Good luck out there Batmen.
