Hey all,
I've been working on this run for quite a while now and am close to a full route of the game (for Law ending). I think the fastest non-White ending is Law (mostly because Lucifer's Palace is a much shorter dungeon than Purgatorium). I am working on a written guide and I also have two videos on my Twitch account detailing major segments of the run. I'll dump everything here:
Written Google Doc of the route: https://docs.google.com/document/d/1svc5c7gs8CRi2UyfMshi1pOo5BCB6eW9HcHCPTFRENA/edit Video showcase (Beginning of the game to Lilith): http://www.twitch.tv/irehaahk/c/5248524 Video showcase (Blasted and Infernal Tokyos): http://www.twitch.tv/irehaahk/c/5448901
I am still working on a couple of late-game things, mostly the fight with Lucifer. A lot of the late-game fights will probably revolve around protecting the party with the appropriate Tetra- and Makarakarns. Overall Law ending is looking like a ~7 hour run, probably improvable down below that.
There are a couple of questions and thoughts I'd like to throw out there for anyone who is interested in this speedgame: -What should the timer start/stop be? I was thinking start at selecting New Game and ending at the NG+ save, but there a number of other ways we could do it (I go into more detail in the Google doc). -Are there any better strategies for Naga/Minotaur/Pluto? Right now those guys are looking like the biggest RNG-heavy fights in the run with current strategies, so if new strats were found to make any of those easier, that would be amazing. -What should the standards for categories be? Law and Neutral are probably the only ones I would run and optimize at any length. Any% seems kinda silly for this game (White ending sucks). Curious to see what other categories people have in mind. We could also have a few shorter fun categories that end at a certain milestone (get to Tokyo, Capture the Black Samurai, etc) for better race categories. -Should hard-reset be allowed? A run would seem like a giant cost of Play Coins otherwise, but we'd also get a more accurate in-game time.
Curious to see peoples responses and thoughts on all of the above.
There is also one known glitch in the game where Flynn will sometimes "fall" through the floor and walk around in a void and eventually reappear on the top of the screen. This glitch could be very significant if an easy setup were found. For example, it would be possible to land behind the door in the first stratum of Naraku and go down the hole to the 5th stratum, which could be a sequence break. It happened to me once in 1st stratum of Naraku and this guy in Blasted Tokyo: . It has something to do with walking up a slope, I think. If anyone wants to look into this, that'd be great.
I'll try to finish up the route soon and hopefully we can take a look at how to improve it from there (and it probably will need improving and optimizations). Thanks for reading.

Sounds good!
And I think you misunderstand - those two clips are not part of an actual run, but they showcase the route and my ideas for what a speedrun of the game would look like, for those parts of the game. Anything I would submit as a run would be single segment.
I've been distracted with Devil Survivor 2 Record Breaker lately, but I'll try to motivate myself to finish the rest and maybe get an actual run done.
