Why are console players and pc players in the same category? PC is more easy than console, really don't know why?
This was kept the same since I migrated from the old system when I took ownership and was just not changed.
This is open for a vote, but across speedrun.com, most games have denied requests for separating by PC and console due to:
- A very small minority being console players
- Would make leaderboards more complex
- Filters can be applied if you do want to compare console runs as speedrun.com has built-in support for different platforms.
Hi, thank's for the answer.
I think a leaderboard with console and pc players in the same category is a bit unfair. In my mind, they have to be separated.
btw, i don't understand why it would make the leaderboard more complex? Just look at the leaderboard of RE7 ; https://www.speedrun.com/re7
I do agree with OrangutanGaming, there are very little console player and doing a separate category for them would mean that since we have lots of category and subcategory that it would make them more complex and unreadable. Also you show resident evil 7 as an example, but there are 4 main big differences: the quantity of players, quantity of category (difficulty, map, game mode ect.), difference between console and pc gameplay and finally how the game is structured in a totally different way.
I think you don't understand what i mean, Its just totally unfair. Speedrun R6 on console is more difficult than on pc ( because of the keyboard/mouse )
Im on the side of keeping the leaderboards how they are now, sure if they split id have a "WR" but objectively its better for the community and the learderboards in the long run, people play on what they play due to preference, a good player will always get a better time than a bad player on their preferred hardware.
I agree with Dracaarys that it is unfair that Console has to be competing with PC, especially because of keyboard and mouse
As a console player who is new to this community I think that a very good console player will be able to compete with very good pc players. So there should not be a separate leaderboard for us considering how few console speed runners there are. Also because the fact that I believe certain console players can compete with pc times. My only problem is figuring out how to time runs especially in milliseconds.
As a console player player as well, I just find it that some runs and situations are easier on PC and some are easier on console
Just a quick update, since the dialogue skip for Tutorial runs is no longer possible, we have added no skip as a variable
If you have any runs that do not use the dialogue skip, feel free to resubmit them under the new parameters!
