As there’s only a couple of runners on this game thought I’d drop a thread stating I’m starting to run it.

One thing I have noticed in practice is that my loading times seem to be slower than the top runner on the leaderboard.

I’m playing the PAL version on a PS2, not sure if it’s a region difference or not.

I’ll try post a video showcasing the time difference in loading times later today.

Last but not least, any tips?

PAL games runs at 50 frames, NTSC games run at 60. You should get the NTSC version, althought with the PAL version you can easily achieve world record if you get a good rng and if your skills are decent.

That makes sense and I’ve looked into it now. Will see if I can pickup an import and run that instead.

For time being I’ll run / map out my route on the PAL version.

i bought the original MS-DOS game still in the plastic. But its runs so bad. I want to run the game.

The DOS version isn't very good, but there are some comments in this video: that might help you out.

@Symm even with a dos emulator the game has some issues. the port for ps1 is very good, a pc version was released too, but i had no seen it yet, so it´is untested.

Yeah ps1 port is the best way to experience this game. I have read that the pc version runs slower.

@HiddenProject Im using Windows with diffrent Dosbox builds, i did rip my orginal cd for so i got the nice music and all but the dos version just seems bad.

@Iglum Try the ps1 version, the dos version has so many problems to get it run.

@tomthulu hey dude, i´ve been waiting for you, i forgot to said you sometime, if you want to run the game faster on ps2, there is two options that you can modify on your ps2.

First. You´ll need to turn on the console without any cd/dvd inside. Second. Then, press triangle, and go to Playstation Driver 1.x(depending on what model you own) and press triangle again. Final. Set disc speed to fast, and if you want, set texture design to soft.

This should give you better load times. Greetings. (you will need to do this every time you´re gonna play ps1 games, cause if you turn off the console, those options get the default config)

Hi guys, i want to try to speedrun this game, because i loved playing it on the sega saturn back then. I would play on an ps1 emulator and wanted to know what the rules are and what i have to look out for. Do i need to play the Normal US version or can i also play the german version? (Because in the german version there are no Soldiers atleast in the Sega Saturn version, idk if the german Ps1 version also doesn't have Soldiers). Idk if anyone of you reads this, because this game is very old, but if yes then please tell me if there is an correct version to play and on which console, if i can upscale the graphics and if it matters on which difficulty i play, thanks.
