i'm nico, an idiot with way too much free time. i'm mostly just doing this for fun, and i can't wait to see my name... all the way at the bottom of the leaderboard. i have ZERO confidence in myself.

You shouldn’t bring yourself down. You could probably find a WR in some game.

There are plenty of smaller leaderboards with little to no runners. There are hundreds of webgames on this site, Steam games, even Minecraft maps

We all have to start somewhere. You can't realistically expect to start out at the top of every leaderboard you join.

With that in mind, I find that just competing against your own times is a better mindset when starting out, as it feels a lot more encouraging whenever you beat your previous personal best times, forgetting about the leaderboard for a bit.

Of course, that's not to say you shouldn't submit those times to have a record of your progression history, but just don't obsess too much about positions/rank and just let yourself enjoy every improvement you make over your past self :)

Even if you don't start in a high rank on the leaderboard, always know that any attempt you do is still progress and will help you get better as time goes on Being a good speedrunner, or being good at anything takes dedication and confidence! Don't feed your mind bad ideas, try to think more positive and I know you'll do great! :)
