How do we determine what exactly is a skip?
are we calling skips only what is in the "allowed strats" section of the Ultimate Guide~ or are things as little as alternate pathways or walking away from voice-lines that don't lock you in place?
for example when you are resetting the welcome song at the beginning of the game, you can simply walk away and the song will end and the door will be open, is that considered a skip or simply a natural consequence of walking from door to door?
or instead of going directly to the workshop you can go through the theater back door on the way since you have the permissions at that point and open up a gate for a possibly safer pathing of the workshop?
right i just uploaded my first speedrun ever and was wondering if the 0158 code would be considered a skip or do i have to hear it from the ms helper or whatever
My WR includes just inputting the code AND guessing one of the digits in the house for parachute ending, so the mods seems to agree that knowing and guessing codes are fair game ^u^
Yeah I would like to know strats to shorten time that doesn't count as a skip to lower run time
CynBro (the parachute skipless WR rn) and I have been going back and forth with a TON of strats that can cut down time ^u^ I'll be breaking his record again today so make sure to keep and eye out and our runs will help you a lot
My question to that is. There is specific set up for the workshop moving puzzle where you can aline all tiles so you don't have to do it twice. You can move next to the first pedestal onto the railing and then move across without doing it a second time. Technically you are not skipping anything but it is somwhat a sequenze break because you are not using the second pedestal. Would that be a skip or just a good use of time?
I've seen that sliding puzzle strat but was too hesitant to try it in one of my runs because I was afraid it would count as a skip, I'll try it in my next run for Clock-out skipless
just like the ultimate guide. walking away from the welcome song ''Welcome song skip 2.0'' in the doc. is NMS and up only. the list of Allowed Strats for Skipless is at the bottom. for the Workshop nothing yet has been found as a skip for that section so whatever u have seen so far for that section is allowed.
does this count as skip or is it allowed in skipless? maybe i missed and it was speedy wipeout v1 so i ask
no for skipless you can't SKIP half the puzzle. u need to play this part as intended, go to the other side & finish the puzzle from there
Just had my run rejected due to fps not showing, but there was a note about me getting only 4 out of 5 reels at the end. If this is a skip, could it please be added to the guide? I thought it'd be similar to knowing 0158 ahead of time.
you have to watch all 5 tapes in skipless, can't skip a tape, they hold important information, dispatch is annoying we can ignore him tho
Not sure if it's just my eyes not working or what, but I honestly can't find where it says in the rules to watch all the tapes.
Does this also apply only to grabbing the tapes?; like if I just started the last film and didn't watch for the number would that still be a skip? And is it only considered important information because the number can change? If so, I'm not sure how is it different than needing to listen for the 0158 tape, because even though it's stagnant it skips a whole a mimic trigger.
facepalm derp. My eyes didn't understand that the rules were it's own button on the leaderboard instead of a tab apparently 🙃
I guess I'm still curious about the semantics of the last tape though, like if you can just play it and run to chance it, unless it cuts out (I haven't tried, but I am curious)
leaving the room ends the tape so unfortunately that wouldn't work, it's a cutscene skip basically
