I think that is because he is playing on a file that has already beaten the game which is allowed on the individual year runs. In other words, it wouldn't be able to be done in Any%.
AntiGravityMaster he is definetely NOT. Otherwise the ghost studs wouldn't appear and inside of the Leaky Cauldron year 6 would be choosable on the level leaderboards (the flipchart).
Hypothesis: for me it looks like if there's a bug in the game, that if you already have completed the game on e.g. file B, then the game thinks on file A that you watched the cutscene so you can skip it. Obviously it only works on 6x1. I would suggest to legit this glitch, because FinnGamer didn't contravene against the rules, as he didnt' choose "Replay Story".
Until a way to replicate the glitch is found, and it may well be how Defqon said it, the skipped cutscene's time should be added to the run, as it currently gives an advantage to a single runner. Once the glitch is repeatable, and everyone can gain the advantage of using it, then the time that was added can once again be removed.
Alright, as of now I still have not found a way to get the skip button in the intro scene.
Can someone maybe try some things with a controller as well? Maybe it is just something that pops up for people with a controller?
Also, to make everything a little easier, it might be a good idea to start the split once we get control after the first cutscene in a year? We can do it in a couple of ways:
- Hit start once you gain control
- Hit start when the cutscene starts but have a countdown on the timer.
- I can try to search for someone that can create an auto starter for the game so it can start on the moments stated above this.
Timed intro scenes: Year 5 - 36 sec Year 6 - 1 minute and 30 seconds Year 7p1 - 56 seconds Year 7p2 - 1 minute and 18 seconds
I just had a talk with AntiGravityMaster and he says the skip is now a strat. Because of that I updated the save files so you do not have to set up the skip anymore. The skip also works on the later years.
By the way, like Phio said, this isn't a viable strat for Any%
Of course not. That would mean the any% would need multiple save files.
Uh...FinnGamer skipped more than just the first cutscene, but the second and third also.
Until we figure out what's actually happening with the skips I've rejected the run.
okay so I've changed the rules to make what Finn did against the rules. It doesn't seem like a "strat" to me as it kind of defeats the purpose of Story Mode.
@AntiGravityMaster...you rejected "Order of the Phoenix" () but this thread is about "Half-Blood Prince" (). Year 5 is fully legit. Year 6 is still pending. Maybe FinnGamer HIMSELF should just give a statement, what happened there and how he was doing it. Then we still can take him to court :p
@BucketPls I gotta say this again, he is NOT replaying, look my earlier posted entry here. Additionally: he walkd through full Hogwarts so it's for sure a clean (= unused) savefile.
Changed. Finn's OOTF run has been verified and his HBP run has been rejected.
Speedruns of LEGO Harry Potter: Years 5-7 done on the LEGO Harry Potter Collection have been moved to their own board, found here:
All future runs done on the Collection should be submitted to that board instead of this one.
