I’ve seen scattered complaints on different threads and various Discord servers so I wanted to make a thread about it. This post is basically me ranting.

I’m beginning to get frustrated with the site giving me “site under pressure” errors every time I try to log in and verify runs. I don’t really mind the long load times, as long as it loads at some point. Having to refresh a page multiple times to verify each run in a 20+ run queue is simply becoming too much of a time burden for me. I’ve seen the same sentiments echoed by site staff (who probably have it way worse than us) and fellow game moderators alike, this is getting crazy guys. 

There was a lot of big hype around the upcoming “moderation update”, don’t get me wrong it’s much needed, but don’t you guys think that having a site that actually functions is a little more important than some new moderation gimmicks? Hell, I don’t mind waiting a year or even longer for those features if it means the site works. 

So this is my suggestion to you guys at Elo, please just get the site working even if it means delaying everything else. We can and will live with what we have now, as we always have. I don’t know what things are like on the backend, but something has got to be done about it. To be clear, I am not entirely blaming Elo for this. It appears Pac didn’t leave them with much to work with, but either way the problem is not going to resolve itself.

Thanks for sharing your thoughts. I couldn't agree with you more. We realize how bad the site performance has gotten and are actively working on a series of permanent solutions to the problem.

Site/API performance and stability is our #1 priority right now (we're delaying other feature releases - which are largely complete - until it's fixed). I'm personally devoting most of my working hours to it, and I expect to have everything in MUCH better shape (should ~ eliminate pressure messages and speed up the entire site significantly) within the next 2-3 weeks. I know that sounds like a long time but the changes required are complex and require a fair bit of planning and iteration.

Thanks for responding, and thanks for what you do for the site. I’d imagine if Pac was still running the site, we’d have the same problems if not worse. We appreciate it, even if it that isn’t always apparent.

Hi there... wanted to ping and see if there is any interest in helping with some of the scaling issues of the site. I have quite a bit of background in scaling APIs and data i/o and am a big fan of the site. I know well that sometimes teams need to just put their heads down and focus when things are hectic, but I wanted to reach out and offer a helping hand if it's something that could be useful. Either way, keep up the great work!
