(Kinda) New Rules - Continued

In this thread we will discuss the proposed changes or 'compression', if you will, of the big Doc, presented in the previous thread.

-Proposing a new name for 100% (e.g. Collect%) Doesn't have to be that. We can come up with something else if we want.

-Inventory between chapters on NG+ - should it be allowed? Pros of this being it would save more time overall, while the cons are that it would be cheating in a way because the IGT stops during the inventory menu. Discuss!

-Should we cap FPS at 60? (Resolved) We talked about it in the discord and it seems most people agree that 120 should be banned. I'll let everyone produce their pros and cons in the thread below.

If there are any more propositions you wish to make, now is the time. I want a well thought out reason for your decisions.

EDIT: Added a new topic. EDIT 2: FPS debate has been settled.

I think in terms of the 100% category it should stay as 100% how it is right now since changing the rules to "all weapons/features/costumes" or stuff like that would make the game take an impracticable amount of time and would not be fun/engaging.

Don't forget to add "overall S rank in each chapter" for the 100% run either.

Adding items in between chapters should not be allowed for NG+ since it means you wouldn't have to carefully plan out your inventory and what items you will need, but instead just run through and take what you need when you need it. It would make it too easy.

They aren't really changing, we're just rewording them so that they'll fit in the box for SRC's view rules tab. It's too clumsy for people to click view rules, then click on a link to a guide, then click on a link there to go to a google doc and then search for their category of choice there. In addition some of the bullet points in the doc aren't actually rules. There's stuff like suggesting that people skip cutscenes and encouraging players to record both screens which, while both are good practice, don't belong in the rules. There's also rules that are just entirely irrelevant, like banning infinite ammo for new game runs when it's not even possible to get infinite weapons in an NG file. So all that stuff is probably going to be left out.

The only thing that would potentially change how the game is run is the NG+ inventory thing. I totally agree with Auddy that no menuing and IGT is the way to go, and have stated so since the rule was implemented. I don't run the category so I'm not too invested in it, but NG+ is already a cakewalk with half-decent weapon choice on any difficulty (except maybe pro solo which nobody runs for obvious reasons), so I don't see why you would need to menu anyway.

There are several counter-arguments to this rule that are worth looking at. The first is that the mods have to go and click through the replay to see that nothing was illicitly added during menus. Well having verified several such runs I can safely say that it takes almost no time and that you should be watching most of the run anyway and looking for shenanigans in the gameplay as well.

The other counterpoint is that it is too limiting to try and play through the game without menuing, either because you need more healing items or because you need to switch weapons. That's where I'd like to see some discussion amongst the NG+ runners. But to make it clear, it's gotta be EITHER allowing menuing and going RTA, or using IGT. And it has to be a majority vote amongst people who run the game. You can't have your cake and eat it too. New Game uses RTA for very sound and objective reasons, and we need the same to make any change final for NG+.

@Auddy, no need for a 7 page doc. So, as of now, no change NG+ inventory is: auddy, Rage, me, and Jake. This will stay open for 7 days. After than, no vote, no change. Also, @Auddy, We're not 'changing' anything. Shortening it basically.

Why are we calling 100% what it is called? You don't even collect all the filters, all the statues, and get every weapon to have infinite ammo. The 100% category is just collect% where you collect every in game obtainable item not 100% the game. I honestly think the name should change to collect%. Its just a scavenger hunt category.

I vote NO to unlock/120 fps ¤New idea Votes?

France

Maybe I don't know some things about unlocked FPS. What could be wrong if it becomes allowed? I know it can cause glitched AIs or stuff like that, but that's not an unfair thing I'd say. Risk vs reward. Tell me your thoughts.

I just woke up and saw this. I'm not entirely sure why the post was locked, but I unlocked it. I was gonna wait until I got a reason from Snow but he seems to be away. So we'll figure everything out when he gets back. For now, let's keep the discussion going.

My relevant post to this topic is the message that got deleted TWICE:

"lol why are you changing the rules again?"

And NO, don't ban 120fps. Why do you officially ban faster loading times? And why the people that is deciding to ban that barely plays or cares about the PC version? Hmmmmmmmm

Well to answer your question, Zenix, we're not changing very much at all. More so we're just getting rid of the Doc that people seem to hate so much. This thread is just sort of a brainstorm. Or a town hall meeting, where people can bring up anything they think is important to talk about in regards to change. So if there's anything at all you think is important to talk about, you can do it here. And apologies for what happened earlier.

it doesnt really matter what anyone is saying, mods have final words so this is only a facade.

I can assure you we're taking everyone's opinions into consideration. This thread wouldn't exist if we weren't serious.

Edit: I also wouldn't have unlocked it.
