Hello Moderator. A few days passed after the beta version 1.51 was released. I have some questions.
-
What will happen to the records so far?
-
Are you planning to divide monk, survivor, hunter runs?
-
This patch is "Beta" yet. Will the new Run be recorded after official release?
I felt Rain World's a lot of parts were modified by this patch.
-
The current records are here to stay. I might close a few categories and move some runs between them, to make room for the new ones.
-
of course. there will be new categories for each slugcats. Monk might get only one though.

There is no saying how different the game will be between the current beta and the 1.5 official release, I kinda wish runners would wait until beta is over before submitting new runs, especially since I'm waiting for the end of the beta to restructure the categories.
I'm looking forward to Hunter runs a lot. It took me 18 of my 20 cycles to reach Moon. I'm sure 20 cycles is more than enough for the best of us to deliver the neuron, talk with Five Pebbles (in either order), and reach the Depths.
Considering everything that's been changed, it would make sense to split applicable categories into 1.1 and the update's Survivor mode once the update is officially out. After all, the speed bug's been fixed; there's some new techniques; and there's some creature spawn changes throughout, among other things. Doesn't seem clear yet whether one will tend to be faster than the other (might depend on the category), but it's clear enough that the contributing factors to the speed will be very different between the two.
v1.50 is now officially out and as it turns out, no mechanic changes/bug fixes made between beta and official release. Therefore, runs made during the beta will be exceptionally considered valid for the new categories.
I noticed an error in the Monk Any% rules, where the yellow slugcat is described as the Survivor rather than the monk.
The new categories look good aside, though I'm a little disappointed to see that no new runs are being accepted for v1.01 categories.
Ive mentioned this in my current runs but the swimming mechanic has changed. Possibly due to the grapplebug mechanic change as well. Where you could easily string together fast button presses to swim faster, the new version absolutely denies any fast pressing. This increases the void sea time tremendously!
Axolittle told me about that, so I pondered whether we should rename the category "Swimming Competition". Also according to him the old skip still works with Survivor. He said he'll provide some evidence. As for the new skip, I guess we should make the devs aware of it.
From Diety_Link: " Also according to him the old skip still works with Survivor."
Alright, just tested it again and it does work. I probably just derped hard while trying to do it. I'll edit my post / YT video to reflect this. As for the Hunter variant, yea you can show the devs. However, I'll probably get a speedrun or two out of it.
Feel free, as long as it's available in the current version it's fair game for the skip category.
- As an update from the Discord we would like to state that we don't want to use mod presets while it is still in Beta state
- Additionally we are ok with the "No More Tinnitus" Mod and the "Sharpener" Mod in runs
