Gamecube Emulator category

I know I'm rather new to the re2 community but more platforms only means more competition and more room for the community to grow. I know adding new categories is a hassle and all but there is a lot of dead categories, such as the 4th survivor and tofu categories that could probably be removed without much complaining from anyone. PC version and gamecube emu have the most potential for good balance because there's no nintendo handheld version that loads significantly faster than platforms people have easy access to like the psx emu categories.

I'm fine with the idea of testing them first before adding it as a category but if people wanna run and have their work shown there's no reason they shouldn't be able to. Plus it'd be a completely clean leaderboard with fresh competition so newbies aren't stuck in super optimized categories where damn near perfect runs are required to even make top 15 like on pc.

Though I haven't read all posts right now, I want to throw in a few thoughts on that "why do you want to emulate instead of using the hardware itself" debate part, coming from me, a cheap-ass poor student:

Given any version of the game I can choose between PC, PSX, PSP, N64, Nintendo GC and Sega Dreamcast (not counting in the PS2 that can run PSX games as well).

What do you need to run any of these games?

PC-Version: A PC, a recording prog and a prog that renders your video out. Console Versions: A capable PC, The according Console, A capture card/device, cables, a recording prog and a prog that renders your video out. Emulated Versions: A PC, a recording prog and a prog that renders your video out.

If I (PC version over here btw, but I dislike the fact that the pc graphics look like something a licker ate and shit out again) want to run any of the console versions, sure as hell I am going to emulate it because I don't have the time or money to aquire the console, a capture card or even a Haupage HDPVR and a physical form of the game that is probably worth more than the Haupauge depending on wether you find one of said old discs in a yard sale or gotta get it off someone selling it for ¤cheap¤ on Amazon or ebay.

Given that fact, I would like the idea of having each version as both physical AND emulator version so we can pretty much sattisfy everyone that is wanting to run RE, empty categories or not. For me this whole thing is all about accessibility, and if there will be categories with "scrubby runs" as WR's in them.

That's all from my cheap-ass perspective. I still don't get why such things are such a "oi instead of your opinion, why not eat ours first??" type of discussion. Let's test dolphin (best would be someone with an actual GC + capable PC (obviously not me)) and have some fun, instead of making this a fucking chore.

inb4 anyone: I still don't care about "you have other ways to run this game DansGame" arguments. People can go by bike if they want to, I won't force them to drive in a car or fly in a plane.
