I really like playing with my GC controller, but unfortunately it doesn't have motion controls. Are there any strats that are impossible without them or is it just rolling speed. How much slower would it be?

well use pro controllers instead of a GC controller because you can roll and its comfy on your hands but if you want to get faster you could use joy cons to downthrow to save some time

Rolling speed loses quite a bit of time. You also can't do spinthrows or upthrows, which loses a bit of time depending on which strats you go for. Not being able to do homing cap throws is big too since you would have to throw really accurately and can't do any dram strats.

Your biggest loss would be shaking to roll boost. Can can press X or Y to kindof roll boost but afaik it isn't as fast. You would lose some time not being able to spinthrow to capture things quickly, too. To my knowledge there are no times in any% an upthrow is used other than optionally on Left Side to make it easier. Homing Cap Throws are something you might be able to get used to. As someone who runs with Joycons motion controls would be a massive loss, but you just might be able to work around it.

you could certainly make it work without motion controls but youll be losing some significant time anywhere you want to roll while going up hill as thats basically impossible without motion controls

you would need motion controls (rolls are very important) but i think that they sould have a no motion control runs

Specifically No Motion Control runs likely won't happen as it wouldn't be that different strat wise and would become a free wr category.
