I can't even tell whether you're being serious or not now. I am going to assume not. : D

I'm not saying create a category for cheating, just something that permits the door skip mod and controller mapping mods. Rules would still need to exist for this category obviously, hence why i said moderators should suggest a single door mod and a single 3rd party software for mapping controls.

My overall point - We shouldn't merge all of these extras into the categories that are already established and completed how the game was intended to be played. I refer to this as bare bones run. It's would be seen as disrespectful to those runners that have already invested so much. Shifting the goal posts/rules after a year isn't smart, no matter how small the change is. It would be like telling everyone that IGT isn't valid anymore, RTA is what matters. This isn't saying that some rules couldn't be revised in the future, it's just keeping things as simple as possible. Adding an additional category seems like the most sensible solution.

And Pessimism, I would more than gladly make you a mod, by now you deserve it far more than I do, but I don't feel comfortable just taking that decision on my own. This isn't my board and I was made a mod randomly when I didn't actually ask for it. (I'm grateful for it though even though I'm the most active of all the mods)

This is clearly going nowhere. Nothing new has been said in the last couple of pages quite frankly, we're just rehashing the same arguments over and over in different words.

What about a vote?

Choices for the vote:

1. Do not allow remapping of any kind, or any other modifications implying a 3rd party software. (other than being able to "plug" the controller. People are already using the PS4 controller with InputMapper, I don't wanna take that away from them.)

2. Allow remapping in the current categories (PC and console), but only 1 input per button (which makes Zeroth's method ok as the stick in the released position can be considered a button). Turbo and macros still not allowed.

3. Do not allow remapping of any kind in the current categories but recreate the "door skip" categories and allow remapping in this category. Turbo and macros still not allowed. (New category will be PC only. I understand the Elite Xbone controller is coming out, but several players have reported the Xbone version being slower than the PS4 one anyway)

Let's have this vote go on for 2 weeks. So if by December 15th you haven't voted yet, you either don't give a crap or aren't active enough anyway.

And yes, I'm fully aware people can still cheat using turbo and macros even though it's not allowed. But that's something we all have to accept. This isn't the Olympics, we aren't gonna ask people to piss in a bottle. :P Besides, I sure as hell don't feel like spending 6 hours in average per run to verify one single run. If that's what it takes to be a verifier, I'm out.

Please try to bring as many people in as possible, mostly actual runners or future runners of this game (I feel their opinion matters the most as they are actually playing this game). Once the vote is over by December 15th, I will bring the matter/results to the "hautes instances" (i.e. Carci)

This would be a very difficult decision to make. I happen to think my technique should be permitted in the standard categories, but at the same time, I would love to see a return of the door skip categories.

As it happens, I don't think it would be appropriate for me to vote on whether a technique of my own invention should be accepted, especially not considering that the outcome could mean that a PB of mine needs to be removed from the leaderboard.

I fully support adding the door skip categories back. I know a few people who would run this game on PC if they are reinstated. I'm not counting on it though. People would probably start crying about it when it first came out. LOL.

I would like to see a mix of 2 and 3 (allow it and bring door skip mods back). But if I had to choose one, just go for 3 I guess as a good middle ground. It works that way.

I'm not even going to address your other post. I've shown respect and was trying to be kind and that seemed to be missed and I apologize if I offended you and will leave it at that.

I will say I'm down with bringing in some additional mods (maybe ones experienced in modding other games that are active here) to help with the load so it's not just Lileya with a splash of Zenix. Without Lileya's activity I don't think there'd be many verified runs... :P

I'm not offended in the least, but this rather became me against all of you and I wasn't up for an endless internet argument. I don't have the energy for that. See it this way, if I spend all my time arguing on this matter, I won't have enough time left to verify runs. :P

And yes, it seems other mods aren't as active as me, but, in their defense, I'm also checking this site several times per day. At least once in the morning on my way to work and once after work on my way home, and sometimes a couple times at night or on my lunch break. I'm that devoted to you guys (or just obsessive-compulsive). :P I'm sure by the time the other mods come around, I've already verified runs.

I'm all for bringing in other mods, but I feel that's a matter you should approach Carci with, not me.

I'm not arguing with anyone. Simply stating my views on the topic and brought up the mod thing.

once again, I value all your opinions, but speedruns should be conducted in a vanilla format.

for example, turning off game music in a speedrun should not be allowed. the game must remain unaltered.

I'm not trying to dethrone you by any means, but for future runs.

I feel that by adding door skip, allow skins, etc., we compromise the validity of this website.

I would love to run it, but I'm currently having an issue with the door skip mod I discovered while attempting to race Pessimism this morning. The game with freeze on camera angle changes after a few minutes. http://www.twitch.tv/cursedtoast/c/7052410

Once I figure it out though, I know at least me and Pessimism will run the shit out of the category and as long as there's activity I would see no reason for there to be a deletion of it (without popular vote.... LOL :|)

Cursed, clearly we won't agree on this one, but there's something to be said about playing the game as close to as possible to how the developer intended it to be played.

I'll continue to speedrun with music on because it sounds fucking awesome!!
