Clips aren't a joy-con exclusive exploit, and you don't need to pro controller just to do a little clip, personally I prefer the pro controller for the entire game really, but I have played the game with joy-cons, and when running around and doing clips, I found the pro controller more easy to do the inputs successfully, mainly the bigger buttons helped.
I don't have a pro controller, I am playing with Joy-cons, so I can not say if it is easier with pro controller or not, but I think sphinx clip itself is a pretty hard trick, with either controller. If you feel more comfortable playing with a pro controller, then you can of course buy it, but I definitely wouldn't buy one just for Sphinx clip, especially because sphinx clip doesn't save too much time.
Don't buy a controller just for one 5 second save. If the pro controller feels better them go ahead but don't do it just because someone ekde said that their personal preference is the pro controller.
It's not just about a 5 second save that is completely pointless unless top 10 imo, it is a good controller and suites most people, it's always worth a try, it will most likely be useful for everything on the switch if you don't enjoy it on Odyssey.
That's what I'm saying, don't do because of Sphinx clip, if it feels better to play with, then that's why you should buy it.
