Just wanted to get everyone's thoughts on NG+ runs. I think it could be a fun category but i wouldn't want to be the only one running it. I think with the right preparation it could be a fun and short run. Let me know what you guys think.

Personally for me it would be more of a "Just having fun"-run and I'm also planning on doing a run (which is probably just a "I'm going in and see how it will work out"-run cause I suck at routing and I need to do runs actually to see where I need to change things). So yea,I wouldnt make much a deal out of it, but having some people to mess around with NG+ would be fun :D

Personally my feelings are that because of how this game handles NG+, (doesn't reset your level, carries just about everything over from the previous playthrough minus Regalia Type F) that it isn't a category to be taken seriously. NG+ takes away any bit of challenge that the game already presented by being able to trivialize every fight in the game by killing every enemy in 1 magic cast, including most (or likely all) bosses. I personally can understand doing NG+ for fun, but nothing more than a fun category.

I'm not even sure how to respond to you Pixql. If you legitimately think that there is no challenge involved in speedrunning whatsoever, then you are either god's gift to gaming (which judging by your profile, you aren't) or you are very very misinformed.

Edit: To address the rest of your post: "if people want to run it why not add it llol." Alright, well I want to run NG+ Level 1 No Magic/No Armiger. Should I add that up on the leaderboards too, just because I want to run it? No, no I shouldn't. It's arbitrary and pointless. That is flawed logic to assume just because one person has an idea that it should be added to the leaderboards.

"points you made are dumb" Umm, okay? And X person is an awful person for voting for Trump. Why? I don't know, they just are.

¤ANYTHING¤ could be considered a speedrun. If you play a video game, with a start and end defined, with a timer going, that is a speedrun. There is no such thing as calling one a "challenge run" and one a "speedrun", they are both the same thing, one is just forcing restrictions on itself to raise the difficulty to a level they desire, in the case of my example. With that established, both NG+ and my example are very much arbitrary to the standard of what a Final Fantasy speedrun is (yes, some games do acknowledge NG+ as a category, but the way in which it is handled from one game to the next is obviously not the same and not comparable to each other).

I dont even know what the issue right now is. Corick didnt even asked for a leaderboard, just for opinions and people to do runs with him. So I dont get why the leaderboard is a topic right now. Just because there is no leaderboard doesnt mean it cant be a category, and only because it is a category doesnt mean it needs a leaderboard. This is possibly just for the sake to see what can be done with the game besides the general Any%. Same goes for the Plat%. People are asking and checking around, wanna get ideas or look for people to work together with. I dont even care if it gets a leaderboard or not, but I will take my times, record them somewhere and be done with it. Because I enjoy the game in multiple ways and just wanna have fun.

I just can't help but laugh at your posts at this point Pixql. You are full of nothing but ignorance and hate, keep 'em coming.

I'd personally like to try NG+ I understand its simple but its not an arbitrary NG+ like other games, it was built to work for full game runs I guess but honestly its up to the community ill run it with a leaderboard or not regardless just be civil yo :)

I don't think it is really subjective, it is fact that it is trivializes the game tenfold, there is really no strategy whatsoever to 1 shotting every encounter with magic or 1 warp strike and there is hardly any movement to consider when you have absurdly high mp levels and just spam warp strike everywhere. There is hardly any menuing required, maybe switch your spell from time to time, but that's it. If the game handled NG+ differently, then I would maybe feel differently about it, but you absolutely can not convince me there is any skill element to a NG+ speedrun and for that reason no purpose to add it as an official category. I also think it's a bit silly that Pixql (or GhostScit?) is asking his friends to come into the thread and post in an attempt to bolster his opinion by making it appear that more people share his opinion about it. I already know that you, Pixql, and Ghostscit all seem to have ties to each other in some way and it seems like you're just posting in an effort to grief myself or other users in the post, and it's just a waste of everyone's time that is involved.

That's like saying using the golden tanooki in SM3DL or NSMB2 makes it less of a run. It applies the same here. Take Okami for instance, NG+ is a lot better of a run than Any% New Game because it progresses a lot better and you can skip cutscenes. Plus, Any% New Game is just really boring because you don't have any of the items and in terms of cutscenes, you can skip the first few that occur before gameplay. It is 6 and 1/4th % of the run, which is a lot since you're just a wolf running around collecting things. Adding onto that, it makes it a pain in the ass to reset runs since the cutscenes equal to 15 minutes. This applies to this as well. Just because Okami isn't FFXV, that doesn't mean that the same thing applies. There probably some parts in the run that go way faster or are skipped completely in NG+, making the run more enjoyable than Any%. And for your last part, I wouldn't say grief, because he is right. It is unarbitrary and its perfectly valid, even as a misc. category. And it isn't grief to everyone else because there was more insight as to the other side of the argument here.

@TheOOT De ja vu. Had this discussion on the LR leaderboards already, you probably know my opinion. I think that if people want to run it then it should be added.

So this thread has gotten out of control. I did not want to cause any arguments. All i wanted was to discuss NG+. I am requesting that a mod lock or delete this thread as it gives a very unfriendly vibe to newcomers to the FFXV community.

Thanks
