Step 1: Click on [Resident Evil / biohazard HD REMASTER] in your Steam library to bring up the game's page. On the right hand corner, click the Gear and select [Manage] followed by [Controller Configuration]. You should get a screen like this. https://i.imgur.com/iDPxqe3.png

Step 2: Click on the Right Analog Stick and you should see a page like this: https://i.imgur.com/PQk5LBF.png

Under [Style of Input] change it from [Joystick Move] to [Directional Pad]. Set the Layout to [8-Way (Overlap)]. Change the Deadzone to 0. Max out Overlap Region. https://i.imgur.com/ZANHj5z.png

Step 3: Finally, to set your buttons up. Click each direction and the click on the X button as shown. You want to map X to every direction so that as you're circling the analog stick, the button that's being pressed is X. (or Square on DS4) https://i.imgur.com/u1JNi9M.png

Strangely, if I use your exact settings with my Dual Shock 4 and 8Bitdo bluetooth adapter, the end result is actually a turbo-like effect. Check this out:

Notice that I don't even need to rotate the right stick in order to perform the stair skate. During the break in the midde of the video I switch the Layout from Analog Emulation to 8 Way (Overlap), which seems to solve the problem in the sense that the stair skating must be "performed" again by rotating the analogue stick. The wording of the particular rule that would call this configuration into question is rather vague, but I assume this setup (using Analog Emulation) would be rejected.

Yeah, this is why I made my tutorial video the way it is. To avoid exactly that. Thank you for demonstrating why everyone should use the same setup, Zeroth.

I just noticed that audio from Jinny's stream got mixed into the game LMFAO!!! Anywho....

@Zeroth That's because analog emulation accounts for the micro-movements in the analog stick. We can see in your video that you're moving the right analog stick. If we were to see the inputs, it'd be u,u,u,u,u,u,u,u,u,u,u,uf,uf,uf,uf,uf,uf,uf. Under 8-way directional pad, the gaps in between UF, DF, DB, UB would force you to move your analog stick FARTHER in order to actually get an input. Analog emulation resolves that so that there are no gaps. The Steam controller config, what we see here, is actually an end result of THE MOST EFFICIENT remapping technique possible.

@maxylobes No dude. Don't be salty. People should have a choice on what to use or not use. Changing it to 8-way directional pad resolves the problem as that was the original setup anyways. Steam configuration is MUCH easier to setup and MORE accessible with a wider variety of controllers that are compatible with it. If it works the same, then there's no reason why people shouldn't use it.

In addition to that, there's people who may ENJOY using this method for the simple fact that they just want to run the game for fun. Being locked into using the same method is NOT fun.

I'll update the pictures, video AND post to demonstrate 8-way instead.

Post, photo and video are updated. The method results in the same or similar to the other method. I saw the dislike on the older video. I find it sad, petty and pathetic. You can't let someone have their own method & way of doing things so that's what you resort to.

No salt here. Just want to avoid turbo, as does most of this community. The point is that you still need to perform the stair skate, and the method that is allowed for PC Door Skip allows you to do this. Everyone is on the same page, and the stair skating is still being performed by rotating the analog stick. Not just holding up on the analog stick (which is basically just holding a button)
