I would like to do a run of portal, but on the orange box for xbox 360. Is it possible to at the very least make 360 an available console to choose, and at most, make console any% a separate category, seeing as pc is able to do many things that console is unable to do.

They purposely disabled console runs for this leaderboard.
Console runs would be still possible, but kind of "uninteresting" from my point of view.
Maybe they can change their mind if you submit an interesting run, not just a regular run without some tricks, they might reconsider it. Idk, maybe a mod can explain it better.

The point of speedrunning is to beat a game as fast as possible, regardless of how interesting or not interesting it looks. Not everyone has a strong enough pc to be able to run portal and stream/record at the same time, and as such, I would like to run on console, and I see no reason why I shouldn't be allowed to do so.

On the other hand Imita, I would consider you to think about the following. First, when everyone thinks about portal, they do in fact think about the pc version. However, there are some people who instead play it on console. While I am well aware they are a minority, the fact of the matter is is that they do exist. Plus, console runs could bring a new, interesting twist to portal speedrunning that no one has really explored. I highly urge you to reconsider and make it at the very least a console option, or else I will simply submit it as a separate game. I think that would be dumb, but if it is the only way for console runs to get represented, then it will be done.

Actualy you are the only console runner, so it doesn't make sens to create a category for one runner. And you don't need a leaderboard to speedrun, If you want to speedrun something do it 🙂 After there are some problemes with the console version: diferent kind of console (I mean old xbox can have slower load etc), and it's in console so no livesplit so RTA, etc. + The game is the same so there is no other things that you can't do on pc. And If you can't record because you don't have pc, then how can we check your time?

Perhaps i am being misunderstood. I am able to stream my console with my pc, however with me having only one monitor, it is difficult for me to play a pc game and stream at the same time. As for the different consoles, that is something every speedgame deals with. Also, while i would agree that no category is needed, i have found that people are more likely to run a category if it is on the speedrun.com page. Besides, i just don't see any reason why any% Console can't be a miscellaneous category, or why console runners are essentially being discouraged from running due to them not being allowed to post times here.

Can console runners just submit to the normal leaderboards? Is there any reason that we shouldn't allow that? I don't see what the issue would be to add a "Console" thing as a platform for the different categories.

Comparing it (like i always do lol) to sotn, we allow all consoles and emulator even, however they are all condensed in one leaderboard so if someone decides to run on the slower versions, they just have to deal with the fact that they wont be at the top of the board, you can however filter it yourself if you want to see only runs of a certain console, people dont mind, that fact. Only difference is the sega saturn version because it is actually a different game with different controls and added content.

I agree with Xeiz. You can just add another column on the leaderboard that shows if the run is done on console or not. Just like the leaderboards of Portal 2, which has only one run done on x360.
