Demo Any% tips for beginners

I'll give the tips at this point:

- The Japanese version is slower than the English version by 1 second because of the Human. text, which takes a long time to scroll on the Japanese one due to the fact that it has more text in it than the English one
- The controller is more convenient to use objects but the controls are awkward, you can rewrite Shortcut 1/2 to A and S to have close to Z and X
- Always Dash set to Off due to the fact that holding Shift doesn't so much allow you to run but to skip text faster than Z and is faster

How to remove NG+ mode for speedruns

This guide is made for beginner runners who have trouble removing this mode, as of 22 December Chapter Select allows you to enter any chapter to make it easier to do endings and beat the game, unfortunately it loss time in speedruns because we found that completing the chapter from Egliette kicks you out to Chapter Select even if you entered through the door losing a few seconds therefore you should remove, please note that if you are interested in Platinum, Witching Hour, Shattered Delusions (in the NG+ subcategory) and level categories, you do not need to remove NG+.

**Steps**
1. Right click game -> properties.... and disable Steam Clouds.

2. Right click game -> view local files (explained in the 4th point)

3. Uninstall the game

4. In the game files, delete the save file because it is still there despite uninstalling the game and can get in the way of removing NG+

5. Install the game, and if you played in a window, you may notice when launching the game that the game runs in a full window and there is a language selection

Advice before speedrunning for beginners:

1. set Always Dash to off, this allows you to run fast depending on what mapping you have set under it but also faster automatic skipping of dialogues, this also works with the Z key but is slower than with Shift.

2. Chinese (both Simplified and Traditional) are faster due to the single text in the Prologue which scrolls shorter and faster scrolling dialogues, in terms of levels outside the Prologue the language version makes almost no difference, the only exception being the Japanese version in Chapters: Egliette which is 200 milliseconds slower due to the extra text in the Jack-in-the-Box, Japanese in full rounds is not recommended as it is slower due to the single text in the Prologue which is the only one that takes 3 seconds, with single chapters the faster versions are Chinese (Simplified as well as Traditional) and German.

Difference in language versions.

(This guide will be edited to include new language versions)

Chinese (Simplified) is on the right at the bottom of the page.

Intro (first 3 texts)

- Russian and Italian do not fire two texts, this does not save time and is 267 milliseconds slower (This has been fixed in 1.1.5 version)
- Spanish and Korean are slower by 500 milliseconds because the second text scrolls one to the end wasting time (since version 1.1.6 this information does not affect the times due to a change in the rules)
- The other versions work as standard with these texts

Human. text:

- Chinese (Traditional): 0.783
- Chinese (Simplified): 0.783
- Korean: 0.783
- Italian: 1.567
- English: 1.633
- Spanish: 1.683
- German: 1.900
- French: 1.900
- Russian: 2.183
- Japanese: 3.800

Text boxes: The Japanese version has an extra text box in Jack in the box which loss 0.200 milliseconds

Egliette Routing.

- In the Red Carpet location, from the very beginning you can interact with the statue using the Pocket Mirror, this saves 2.733 due to the item menu not opening using the Pocket Mirror.
- Note that in IL Chapter: Egliette this is not used because you do not have the pocket mirror assigned as a shortcut, instead interact with the statue normally and assign the pocket mirror to shortcut 1 or 2.
- You can use the glitch scene with the door opening after putting the second eye on the statue, to do this, after using the shortcut to put the eye on the statue, before starting the cutscene mash Z or Enter, then another text will appear and after that you can move around in the scene, you can use this to get through the door faster, it only saves 600 milliseconds but it is worth saving, the glitch is easy to do, don't interact with the door too early because the ribbon is still active (approaching the door doesn't activate the trigger), wait until the door opens then the ribbon trigger will disappear when it opens, mash Z when the door opens and you will move on, if you interact with the door when it doesn't open you lose time.

Winning is 10 seconds faster, the arrangement of the cards and Fleta's revealing of the cards are always the same so all you have to do is memorise their arrangement.

Pink Room (Section with mirrors):

- Who am i? 4
- Why won't Egliette talk to me? 5 
- What is my Name? 2 
- Why can't I remember my own name? 5?

Will be timed to this, these figures show but the text has every option in it

Butterfly catching mini-game:

You win faster as long as you catch the butterflies in a faster time, the mini-game ends faster if you collect them all, the movement of the butterflies is random so it depends on luck the better the better the better you save some time

Fleta Ending times differences:

Collecting the Fleta's Regalia is 40 seconds slower than NOT collecting it, looking at the time difference in the minigames, winning each minigame is 20 seconds faster and losing even one minigame is 10 seconds slower, which makes collecting or not collecting the Fleta's Regalia 10 seconds difference between which means the Fleta's Regalia is faster to collect in normal endings than the others, it is one Regalia that is more worth collecting in speedrun

These options do not affect changes to the regalia but are faster options to choose from

Harpae Options 2:

- Lie 21.317
- Tell the truth 20.300

If you are very fast at selecting options and know the timing, you will not lose track of time

Options choice route:
Not everything is described here with the given options choices so I will edit this guide

Rest options:

- Yes: 48.750
- No: 16:000

Regalia Route:
Getting Regalia from Harpae is faster by a second but due to the fact that you have to select take a rest option it is slower

Lisette Routing.

When asking Lisette to Goldia from the angle she knows her name choose the option I remembered your name..., this is 167 milliseconds faster compared to the option Harpae told me... so with this it makes no difference at all

After escaping from Lisette by choosing Yes or No at Help Me? it doesn't matter what you choose, it's always the same but Yes is one of the two options that will lead to getting Lisette's regalia
