This guide covers basic settings and simple strategies for running set seed categories on PC with version 1.1.9. See footnotes for credit and error corrections. This guide does not cover in-depth tool use or planning strategies
Prerequisites:
- Know how to set up and record speedruns with the livesplit integration (https://wiki.plateupgame.com/speedrunning)
- Know how to submit speedruns to speedrun.com by following the game and category rules
Setup:
- (Optional) Subscribe to Speedrun Mod Checker (https://steamcommunity.com/sharedfiles/filedetails/?id=3007986429) and dependency HarmonyX (https://steamcommunity.com/sharedfiles/filedetails/?id=2898033283)
- Set the run to "seeded" by selecting Start menu > Options > Game > Seeded run > Seed affects everything
- Note that if you install Speedrun Mod Checker you can easily confirm that the seeded run setting is correct by looking for the little plant icon in the bottom right corner next to the green checkmark (As of May 1, 2024 it is a required mod if you are using any mods)
Finding a seed (note this is a sample workflow and other approaches are valid):
- Decide on which cards you'd like for each day
- Put the cards into the website tool seed searcher (https://ambersz.github.io/plateup-set-seed-tools/normal-seed-searcher.html)
- Manually input each seed into the PlateUp game by interacting with the flower pot labeled "seeded run"
- (Optional) Once you see a floor plan that you like, put the seed into the website tool seed explorer (https://ambersz.github.io/plateup-set-seed-tools/branching-rerolls.html) to determine what blueprints you can find each day
Running the seed:
- Good luck and have fun!
Shortcut: Check out seeds that a team of people has already vetted by joining the set-seed channel in Kulutues discord (https://discord.gg/mjcvGKwCgP)
I'm slowly working my way through adding credit to tools, mods, layouts, and techniques, so please send me a message if I've referenced your material with how you'd like to be credited.
For any errors in information (eg what aspects are affected by seeds and what aren't) please let me know so I can correct it.
On May 5th, we asked for the speedrun community to vote on whether the ‘Cake Bowl Glitch’ should be allowed or not. And the results are in:
51.16% of people voted for Allow
48.84% of people voted for Disallow
As you can see this is a very close poll, near
