Hia! Not sure if this is know to y'all yet, but Steam actually added downpatching functionality back into the Steam console, so using the Steam downpatcher or Depot Downloader is no longer needed. Might be worth updating the downpatching guide to reflect this.
People have different claims for which FPS works better. I personally do hsh at 60 FPS and it works pretty well. Note that no one can really get hsh super consistently. Getting it around 1/4 of the time would be considered pretty consistent.
still moving runs, will be verified later
The community voted to have all collectable categories as one 100% instead of separate all tapes, all notes, and all trophies.
May or may not be reverted. Categories are still not fully set up.
Mod team is a little chaotic rn. Expect some turbulence for the next few weeks. I'll do my best to double check runs.
Probably now more like 1-2 weeks due to the amount of discoveries that have been made. We want to be sure that the rules and categories are solid before we add Chapter 2 to the leaderboards.
Seems they moved the cost of Chapter 1 on to Chapter 2 since Chapter 2 is now $10.
@Dwagon The minor time save comes from not getting fully stopped by certain loads, mainly the one in the hallway before collecting the batteries.
We are currently discussing this issue, along with the minimal time save given by the removal of load screens. We will most likely either: A. Remove the load times as normal and keep them together in the same category or B. Separate patch categories depending on how much of a time save difference there is and if srdc's infrastructure would allow easily for a category split.
We've had this brought up a couple times and there are 2 main issues with a skipless category:
-
The category wouldn't really be interesting. The skips/glitches are probably the most skilled part of the run so having a category without them would be rather boring and uncompetitive.
-
We would probably have to move runs that are currently in NMG to a skipless category to stay consistent with our rules. It would not really be worth it to go through the 1000+ runs in NMG to see whether or not they would qualify for a skipless category.
Don't know for sure, but this method might work on Linux: https://www.speedrun.com/hollowknight/guide/jlten#ch2Patching_Steam
The command for old patch for you to enter into the steam console would be: download_depot 1721470 1721471 8897518061680100138
Note that the manifest ID (the long string of numbers at the end) may or may not be different on Linux.
@MysterCat_ The run was deleted by the runner for personal reasons. I, along with many other runners, still view it (the 4:29) as the official wr and his 4:27 as the actual wr.
@gabgabju It's a bug with the autosplitter for New Patch. Downpatching the game to Old Patch should fix it.
