Going to Start speed running

Im new to speedrunning and im going to make this game my first game to learn to speedrun because it looks like the easier pokemon out of the bunch so hopefully it can help me improve the basics of speedrunning in general.

Im looking for any proper speedrunning notes for this because obviously not everything is explained in videos so just wondering if any of the professionals got something i can look at, One thing i noticed this game uses Repels majority of the game but from the beginning till after saving Pecko your not using them as they are not obtainable yet but when im watching a video you guys are not encountering any encounters and i get like 4/5 upto rusturf tunnel. Is there patches of grass with 0 encounter rate like Pokemon Blue/Red viridian forest?

In route 116 between picking up the Repel and Rusturf Tunnel you have to optimize your movement when going across the grass patch. Go diagonally crossing between the clear patches. Using the D-Pad in that segment helps a lot. Movement should be something like this:

You can still get encounters but the chances are reduced quite a lot.

As for detailed notes, there's a very complete and optimized route for Alpha Sapphire in the PSR forums. If you're playing Omega Ruby, send me a PM on Twitch and I'll give you mine.

Yeah I'm currently using onega ruby till I can get a spare Alpha sapphire so using omega ruby just to get used to speed running as this is my first ever game I've attempted :) I'll get hold of you through twitch

Hello, on the speedrun dropbox guide for ORAS only lists one nature on it (gentle) is that the only viable one? or are others useable?

Lax can be used, and gives nice Defenses, and Naughty is viable (14/11/10)
