How to disable midair spin mechanics from your jump buttons

Some people have gotten used to the midair spin mechanics of this game at this point while some others are still bothered by it. So recently, there has been a way to disable the midair spin mechanics so that this game plays exactly like the original NSMBU/NSLU games by simply holding the control stick on the start of the title screen for a few seconds and then open to file select.

New Super Mario Bros. U 100% Route

This is the current route of New Super Mario Bros. U that can also be transferred over to the Deluxe version of this game. This route was originally made by BlueX2 with contributions of Pretends2Know, myself and MadAstix for making modifications. The title says "Route 3" because this is the third major route change from early 2020 when BlueX2 originally got the WR on the original NSMBU.

NSLUDX 100% Character Switching Route(s)

NSMBU Deluxe 100% route

Since finding the route for this category was really hard for me, I decided I'd make this for anyone else that wants to learn this category. Refer to the rules if you want to know what you need to do to 100% the game. I would strongly recommend 100 percenting the game yourself before running this category. 100% routes are the same for Mario and Toadette, the main difference between the two is that you need to take a detour as Mario to get a baby Yoshi for the water levels. Getting a baby Yoshi allows Mario to swim much faster than he normally can. Getting a baby Yoshi is not needed for toadette due to the fact that Toadette naturally swims that fast. The normal and nabbit categories are redundant since you can’t 100% the game as nabbit, and the only two characters you can switch between are Mario and Toadette.

Throughout the run, you will want to get P-Acorns and Stars. Stars are mainly used for Nabbit chases, though a star is something you may want to have for level 9-8. Stars are obtained by either forcing fireworks (a star is obtained with the last two digits on the timer being an 88 or a 99) or getting lucky by getting one from overworld enemies. P-Acorns are used to either skip levels or go through them fast. P-Acorns are used in 1-2’s normal exit, 5-T, 6-6, 6-T2, 7-1, Elevator, and 9-1. I would use them on 9-2 or 9-7, and 7-6 instead of 6-6 and 9-1 P-Acorn for starting out.

NSMBU Deluxe All Castles - Normal Route

Since I made one of these for 100%, I figured I may as well make one on All Castles since the current world record of 1:35:29 doesn’t use the most up to date route and doesn’t have as detailed of splits as some may want. Refer to the rules if you want more details on the category itself.

Throughout the run, you will want to stay as Acorn Mario whenever possible. There are 3 “safety” acorns that you can pick up in case you get hit and I would recommend picking up at least one of them. You can obtain Acorns in levels 1-1, 4-1, 5-2, 7-1, 7-T, and 8-4 if you get hit right before any of them.
